I’ve never made a motion picture, but I know if a movie is good or bad.

Any kind of advertizing works by emotion. This one is dull, and 99% of people will just tune it out.

U-tube refusing comments on this. Is everyone noticing how many web sites are refusing comments?

“They got the wrong guy to do this ad. He’s way too nice. Should have someone breathing fire. This ad is pathetic.”

R. Lee Ermey comes to mind.

The ad is OK, not great just OK, same old, same old. I sell for a living, people buy based on fear. Romney is just not closing the deal, he's clearly disconnected from voters.

What America needs to see is the “truth,” we only need a 30 second spot. The first 10 second is bozo telling the soviet leaders not to worry, he'll have flexibility after the election. The second is bozo telling us we didn't build it. The last 10 seconds is Romney making a plea to help start fixing this country. This doesn't have to be rocket science.

We won’t win with crappy ads like this. The people that are plugged in and paying attention on both sides have already decided who they will vote for so ads like this mean nothing.

If they want to pull wishy washy (I) and (D) people over to our side, they need to create more emotional ads that give weaker minded people something to grab onto. Take the Obama phone lady and put it into a 30 second commercial!

I would have cut off the chart on the debt and added to the chart the unemployment rate had the BLS used the same-sized job pool that we had at the end of the Bush administration (approx. 11 or 12%).

Then there’s only one message: Obama failed on unemployment.

This ad says “yes, he lied but it’s getting gradually better”. My revision says “yes he lied and it’s worse than the lie.”

Should have someone breathing fire.

I disagree. They need to show the cost of Obama's policies in human terms. If Obama was a Republican, the media would be running stories every day about poor out of work Americans, people who have been forclosed on, filed bankruptcies, homeless, etc. Notice you never see those stories anymore? Romney and the pacs need to bring those people into voters living rooms, with the overt message, "we can't take four more years of this", and the unspoken message "you could be next". As John in Wisconsin noted above, fear sells.

We need to hear about the future...not the past. It’s almost annoying to hear what Obama did in the past since they have convinced people that it was Bush’s fault and he needs 4 more years. I’ve been waiting for Romney to talk about what an Obama Presidency will mean for the next 4 years!!!! NO ONE GIVES A CRAP ABOUT THE PAST ANYMORE. He’s going to lose if he doesn’t get with the program.

An OK ad, on the lame side. Standing in an empty factory to emphasize job losses -- been done 471,209,558 times, last time I counted.

An exponentially better ad, creative, clever, and on-point, also by American Crossroads: CLICK HERE.

Will we ever see this one on TV, or just on the internet?

Interviews with actual out of work people would be way more effective.

Romney knows this.

When Romney ran against Kennedy for the Senate, Kennedy bussed in people (from OH, iirc) that lost their jobs, or had their wages and salaries cut in the Bain-engineered merger of two failing companies, Avery and Dennison.

How about an ad showing what happens when the Bush Tax Cuts expire? Millions added to the tax rolls (Those that don’t pay taxes now), a 50% increase in the rate paid by the lowest level of taxpayers (from 10% to 15%), and an average $3500 increase for families.

“Interviews with actual out of work people would be way more effective. Maybe have one say “we can’t take four more years of this”.”

Agree 100%. The Zero ad/lie about the man who blamed Romney for his wife’s death had traction because it tugged at people’s heart strings. SURELY there are some non-union GM people who lost EVERYTHING who could be featured in a TRUE commercial.

They got the wrong guy to do this ad. He’s way too nice. Should have someone breathing fire. This ad is pathetic.

It would work on Mrs. JimRed. A fire-breathing, passionate delivery (Rush when he's in that mode, or Mark Levin anytime) causes her to shut down because she "hates being screamed at". In fairness, she did stop watching Chrissy the Sissy and the Olber-moron long ago for the same reason. She just can't separate passion from hate...

Technically, this is Karl Rove’s anti-Obama ad. Not Romney’s.

They should begin the ad with a little girl with a lemonade stand on a sunny morning.

First customer walks up (an elderly grampa-type)and says; “Good morning deary, I remember last year when you had this stand, the lemonade was good. I’ll have one.”

The man hands the little girl a dollar.

The girl says; “I’m sorry Mr. the lemonade is 3 dollars now.”

The man says; “But your sign says lemonade a dollar?”

“Yeah, I know” says the little girl; “I couldn’t get any one to stop if the sign said it was three dollars.”

Camera shot switches back and forth to the elderly man’s puzzled, paternal gaze and the little girls clueless innocent big-eyed stare. Fade out.

Finish the ad with the guy with the charts and graphs but, in the front lawn by the little girl off to the side and above rain clouds rolling in. fade out.
