A truck drives on the Mexican-side of the border fence between Naco and the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation area in this 2007 file photo. Two agents assigned to the Border Patrol's Naco station were shot Tuesday morning. One agent died.

A U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed and another wounded early today in a shooting near the U.S.-Mexico border.

The agents were on duty near Bisbee when the shooting occurred about 2 a.m., according to various wire reports.

The wounded agent was airlifted to a hospital. He was reportedly shot in the ankle and buttocks, the Associated Press reported.

The agents were assigned to the Naco station. It was recently renamed to honor Brian Terry, who was slain in a shootout with border bandits in 2010 near Nogales. The shooting was later linked to the Fast and Furious gun-smuggling operation.

I wonder how Mr. Obama will handle a question in the debates on this murder? TWB

PravdaUSA will not be asking that question as it wasn't submitted to White House for approval beforehand.

And, believe it or not, that is the “good part” of the fence. Most of it around there is either non-existent, or some wooden fence posts. I don’t necessarily believe that a fence across the entire southern border is the answer — it turns our formerly beautiful desert areas into even uglier war zones — but it sure helped the San Diego sector when they put up a REAL fence.

I do not know if that is accurate. It’s what was reported.

btw - one way to find out is to contact PETA (they’ll want answers) - if the agent (as reported) was shot in the ankle and buttocks - it may be that the horse was wounded too.

Very sad to hear another agent murdered and one wounded.

I suggest that since we spend billions on conventions that we have billboards across the land and internet with these guy’s pictures saying simply, “If you do drugs, you were partly responsible for these murders.”

Border Patrol Horse Patrol Units are used to patrol areas where no vehicles can go (SUVs, ATVs, etc), and riders are able to get closer to the smugglers before detection because the horses are quieter than motorized vehicles. Also, horses can see well at night, much better than people and are able to gallop into the darkness in pursuit whereas BP Agents can't just hit the gas and ride into the darkness in a vehicle — NVGs or not, the terrain won't allow it.

Horse Patrol training is difficult and only about 30% actually graduate. Tough training and involves riding horseback no less than 8hrs a day, starting with no saddle or bridle, to a bridal and the saddle is finally added the last week of training.

(My son is a Border Patrol, Horse Patrol Agent in Arizona, that is why O know about this. Fox News did a report on Horse Patrol a while back, can[t find it in YouTube and it might still be in the Fox News website. . .Adam Housley did the report.)

The entire Border Patrol is out looking right now for the shooter(s).

FBI on scene investigating—this does NOT inspire confidence because they are incompetent buffoons that are accountants and lawyers, not field agents.

Exactly.

Change the law FIRST, then be a user if you want.

Til then, if you are a user, you are paying cartels/rip crews to kill our Agents.

Authorities have not identified the agents who were assigned to the Naco station, about 100 miles southeast of Tucson.

The border patrol station in Naco was recently named after Terry.

Bill: Name BP's Naco station after slain Agt. Brian Terry

A bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives would name the Border Patrol's Naco station after Agt. Brian Terry, who was killed while patrolling near Rio Rico in December.

The proposed change, introduced late Wednesday by California GOP Rep. Darrell Issa and Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, was welcomed by the office of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in a Thursday news release.

“Brian Terry died protecting the men and women of Southern Arizona,” said Pia Carusone, Giffords' chief of staff.

“Naming the Border Patrol station in Naco after him is a fitting tribute to someone who paid the ultimate price in the service of his country.”

Terry was based at the Naco station.

Welcome to Obama’s family. The typical that a black inner city family gets in terms of a dead beat dad, whether he is not in the house, or, worse, he is in the house.

Prayers for both the family and the soul of the fallen agent. Prayers for both the family and the wounded agent also.

The drug cartels have better weapons and technology than law enforcement in the US. They frequently have spotters in high areas with night vision goggles and radios (and well as full auto rifles.) Sheriff Paul Babeu says there are entire areas in Pinal County that are not under control of the US. He’s not exaggerating.”

We would do well to get out of Afghanistan, declare the border area a Special Forces training area, and have them hunt down invaders and engage in sniper/counter-sniper activities.

Yeah, I noticed the puffed-up feds, playing with their military vehicles like we’re in Iraq (on our local news).... All a big show. (Or, to hurry and destroy any F&F evidence.)

The FBI is too busy looking for ‘extremists’ - the kind who object to illegals working in the United States to be bothered with this murder...
