Judge Robert Simpson has effectively decided to block part of the law. Following his ruling, voters will still be asked for a valid voter ID at the poll. But if they don’t have it, they will still be able to cast their vote in the usual manner.
The judge suspended the portion of the law that would have required voters without valid ID to cast what is called a “provisional” ballot, which would not be counted unless the voter could produce a valid photo ID within six days after the election.
Judge Simpson says he viewed the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s recent directive (see related story) as ordering that he sever the illegal portion of the law concerning the provisional ballots.
Today’s ruling comes just five weeks before the election (related story). An appeal is still possible.

Very, very disappointing. Voter fraud is HUGE in Philly. So, you have to show ID to buy a fricken box of Sudafed, but voting? nah, no problem, we trust you ... aaRRGH!
IMHO, we make it way too easy in this country to vote—especially if its fradulent voting. And fradulent voting is almost never prosecuted. Most Democratic voters wouldn’t bother voting if it inconvienced them in any way.

There is absolutely no valid reason that votes without IDs can’t go into the provisional pile, to be counted ONLY if the margin of victory is less than the number of provisional ballots.

The Democrats and their tame judges want to win by any means possible and no ID makes fraud easier.
I predicted this weeks ago on here. The only surprise is that the radical leftist judge didn’t wait until 24 hours prior to election day. Now the Republicans have time to appeal I suppose, for all the good that will do.

Sure it ticks me off but in practical sense will it matter for this election? Does anyone think obama won’t gets PA’s electoral votes anyway? It does however facilitate a distortion of the overall nationwide vote.

No ID mandate - vote in your home state, then drive up to Pennsylvania and find an organization (Leftist, I’m sure) that keeps up with old folks that don’t vote any more, or recent deaths, or ____________ (fill in the blank) and vote in someone else’s place. Further - it would be difficult to trace/investigate.

It doesn’t matter. In those Phila precincts with the voter fraud, the poll workers are in on it, and they’ll let people vote without ID.
The voter ID law was a booby prize, a sop to conservatives and fair minded moderates who backed the Pileggi bill to allocate Pennsylvania's electoral votes on the same basis as is done in Maine and Nebraska: 2 for the statewide winner, 1 for the winner of each congressional district.
With a solid GOP majority in both houses and a governor pledged to sign the bill once passed, the Pileggi bill would have accomplished the same thing as the voter ID bill with far less fuss and fanfare.
With only the two statewide electoral votes at stake in the most corrupt Democrat districts, there would have been far less reward for cheating making for more balanced contests down ticket as well.
The Democrats would have been unable to launch their normal corrupt legal challenges and delaying tactics for three reasons:
Gleason, our Quisling state GOP chair, opposed the Pileggi bill on the basis that the GOP would win all 20 this year given Obama's sorry record. 'So what?', should have been the obvious reply. If that happens, Pennsylvania won't make a difference anyway.
Now, Mr. Chairman, are you willing to resign in disgrace if you don't deliver what you bragged would be done one year ago when you blocked this bill?
Fraudulent voting is protected by Democrats and their hand-picked lackeys in robes. The judge likes the fact that Democrat precincts in Philly vote 110% straight ticket Democrat and that Whites are turned away from the polling places by Black Panthers with nightsticks.
Wouldn’t it be nice if our military were at our polling places to guarantee fair elections, and everyone had to stick their finger in indelible ink to prove that they’ve only voted once? We can do that for other countries, but not our own.

Yes that’s how its done properly, with provisional ballots which get counted if the voters show they were properly cast by legitimate registered voters. Putting ballots cast by unidentified people in with the legitimately- cast ballots is like pissing in the punch bowl. It ruins the whole works .

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled a similar law in Indiana constitutional.

What is the point of setting them aside if you’re just going to count them anyways? They go in the “needs to be verified” pile and they do not come out of that pile until the verification is complete.
“Provisional” is just that - they aren’t verified and counted unless they are needed.
Usually, they won’t be. But if the margin is less than the number of provisionals, they’ll all have to be verified as valid and then counted.
Of course, the ‘rats could try to overwhelm the system by refusing to show ID and making all their votes provisional, delaying and messing up the works.
I just learned that the judge will have the ballots of the unidentified voters mixed in and counted with the ballots of properly-registered and identified voters.
This destroys the integrity of the Pennsylvania election, completely.
(Ballots from people without proper ID, or with no ID, should be Provision Ballots and counted only when the bona fides of the voters are determined. This is how it is done from one end of America to the other. The state has the duty to insure the integrity of the election. Mixing ballots cast by unidentified voters in with properly-cast ballots destroys the Pennsylvania election (and possibly may elect a President based on a whole lot of fake ballots).
If the RNC or the Romney campaign doesn’t get on this ruling RIGHT AWAY, like TODAY, to get it fixed or set aside, then they may very well be conceding the election .... watch and see what they do....watch and see what they do....watch and see what they do....

The PA Sec of State needs to tell this judge to get bent. The SCOTUS has already ruled that photo ID laws are constitutional. The DOJ sued us twice about it but all you have to do is show up in Court and it gets kicked out. The states need to start ignoring these Federal judges who are out of line.

These are not “Provisional”.. they can ask a voter for ID but they must give them a regular ballot even if they decline to provide ID.
