ABC's Stephanopoulos Leads Post-Debate Media Spin for Democrats
NewsBusters ^ | October 02, 2012 | Rich Noyes

Leading into tomorrow’s presidential debate, journalists are busy setting expectations for the candidates. On Sunday’s Good Morning America, ABC’s George Stephanopoulos argued that Mitt Romney is under “huge, huge” pressure: “He is behind right now. He is behind nationally, he’s behind in all of the battleground states. This is the last big audience that Mitt Romney is going to have with about four and a half weeks left to go.”

But more undecided voters will be swayed by the media’s post-debate spin about who won and who lost than by any pre-debate expectations. Reviewing the last several campaigns, MRC analysts have found a clear trend of network reporters fawning over the performance of liberal candidates, while harping on any perceived weaknesses or gaffes from conservatives.

One of the most reliable pro-Democratic pundits is none other than George Stephanpoulos — not especially surprising, given his track record as a loyal operative for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign, but hardly the objective, unbiased voice touted by ABC News. MRC has documented how, in eight out of the last nine general election presidential debates (every one since he joined ABC News in 1997), Stephanopoulos has gone on his network’s airwaves to claim victory for the Democratic candidate, all in the guise of offering impartial analysis.

Stephanopoulos even called Al Gore the winner after the first debate in 2000, the one in which the Democratic candidate’s excessive sighs and rude interruptions were parodied by Saturday Night Live in a classic spoof. (SNL’s Al Gore: “Jim, I’d like to interrupt here and answer that question as if it were my turn to speak.”)

This past Sunday, previewing Wednesday’s debate, Stephanopoulos even raised the topic with Donna Brazile, who was Gore’s campaign manager that year: “I know for a fact that everyone on your team

Georgie Stepalloverus is the perfect stooge. He has had his time now being invited into the mushy brains of the viewers on ABC. He’s conditioned them not to think but to react to his words as if it were actually true...so he has that going for him.

Sounds to me like he is leading the PRE-Debate Media Spin.

I could criticize Stephanopoulos all day long -- but in the end, he's just a Democrat operative, in a position of power, trying to get Democrats elected. How outraged can I really be by that?

What outrages me is that the GOP allows George, Bob Schieffer, Gwen Ifil, David Gregory and others of that ilk to moderate all the debates.

Could Michelle Malkin get a turn? Rush? Jonah Goldberg? Nope. I guess not. The GOP supports Democrat operatives, in a position of power, for debate moderators.

That outrages me.

little georgie personally wrecked an entire republican debate during the primaries by insisting on repeatedly dragging the conversation off onto contraception.

stephanopolis needs to get his mind out of other people’s underpants.

Consider a false flag debate incident. Obama is unprepared and knows he will get his clock cleaned in the debate because everything about the past four years has been a complete disaster. Someone walks on stage to whisper into Obama’s ear. Obama, looking very presidential and concerned excuses himself to respond to some crisis that just happened.

Whenever I see Stephy and Clinton I think of the Dr. Seuss
story with the line “and the little kangaroo in her pouch said me too”. Wish I had the artistic skills to make a
cartoon of it.

I Haven’t watched ABC’s news programs since about 1991.

I wouldn’t watch George Stephanopoulos on a bet. I could not care less how he spins things.

The talking points are already written. Obama couod show up, blow his nose, make audible gas,and forget his lines and they will spin it as an “Obama win”. The best Romney can hope for is they might say “he didn’t win, but he didn’t lose which isn’t enough.”

Regardless of how these rigged debates are judged, I will choose to vote against the complete destruction of America.

Although I actually think the odds are very long for that to happen, it wouldn't hurt if Romney had a copy of "My Pet Goat" on hand. That's what Bush was reading at the time of 9/11. I wonder if the media would think it odd that Romney had that as a handy prop when Obama rushes out of the debate to deal with an issue of national importance?

Obama will talk a lot but will say nothing and the media will declare him the winner and 50.099% or more will lap it up like a dog lapping up it’s own vomit.

Dear Mr. Stephanopolous, I would like to write your script for you, pre-debate:
"Obama really showed us why he is the right man for the right time. It's obvious he cinched another term. When Obama said ________________, it was a masterful stroke that left Romney stumbling. I don't think Romney recovers.

On the other hand, Romney fumbled away the debate by saying ___________ and ________________, and who will ever forget THIS gaffe: _______________. Romney lost the election tonight.

Obama's people downplayed his performance, but it is clear they didn't need to. Obama played Romney like a fiddle, and if there are any undecided voters left, they will obviously break for Obama."
You are welcome. I do ask for a small donation for my efforts.

Pushing FALSE STATEMENTS based on RIGGED POLLS will not get you anywhere other than FALSE HEADLINES in the MSM who have no credibility left. That about sums up the CROWD OF PHONIES trying to cling to THE FOREIGNER as he is hanging over the cliff. It’s all over politically for the socialist democrats come November and they know it.

From Jim Lehrer: “The first question goes to Governor Romney. Governor Romney, please explain how your religion, Mormonism, influenced your decision to not pay your fair share of taxes between 2001 and 2010, and led you to the murder of many women who suffered from a lack of healthcare as Bain Capital laid off all of their husbands between 1989 and 2001?”

“The next question goes to President Obama. President Obama, please describe how you after reelection plan to push forward the economic recovery that began on your watch after you inherited in 2009 the worst economic crisis in over 75 years.”
