A Fort Worth man was in custody Tuesday after authorities say counterfeit military identification documents were found in his wrecked vehicle behind a Hurst shopping center.

Two weapons and an air rifle also were found in the Chevrolet Silverado.

The discovery of the documents and weapons prompted authorities to evacuate the shopping center on Grapevine Highway for several hours Tuesday morning.

Initially, authorities believed the military documents were real, prompting authorities to summon an explosives team and a bomb-sniffing dog to inspect the vehicle. No explosive devices were found.

Hurst police identified the suspect as Azeez A. Al-Ghaziani, 29. He was in the Hurst City Jail Tuesday afternoon.

Al-Ghaziani is expected to be charged with tampering with government records, said Hurst police Lt. Mark Schwobel.

Eh, I’m sure all he has to do is invoke that Muhammed video and he’ll be a sympathetic figure to half the country.

Read the story. This sounds like a typical BS abuse of power by over-zealous cops. Keeping a “forged military document” (whatever that is) in your car is a federal offense in the New Reich (or do we call it the Rodina?)?? Keeping some rifles in your car after being kicked out of your home is a crime?

I’m all for keeping a close eye on muslims, but this one stinks. There might be more to this that isn’t in the story, based on what I read here, there really is nothing to see here.

There have been several incidents in the USA involving muslims trying to use fake military credentials to use in attacks on US military bases. The most notable was a year or two back in New Jersey. In any case, this is not an abuse of power to pursue these vermin.

After an explosion at a fireworks factory near Reading Michigan some years ago a truck was found nearby with "bomb making materials".

It turned out that the bomb making materials were a gas can, a few shotgun shells, a bic lighter, and a few lengths of pipe. A guy had been out hunting and run into a friend and they went hunting somewhere else and the guy left his truck there by the side of the road.

A local cop wouldn't have thought anything of it but the feds were involved and naturally went all out looking for a crime that was never committed. (The explosion was an accident)

Considering the number of US soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq by terrorists passing themselves off as allied military, I would take this VERY seriously, unless it's obviously some joke-document.

But they aren’t passing themselves off as allied military. They ARE allied military...right up until they open fire. This guy worked in a dry cleaner. The nature of the “papers” is typical of a fed gov press release (as Cripplecreek pointed out, a bic lighter and pipe is “bomb making materials” to these Keystone Kops). Was it a pile of fake IDs or was it the manual to Call of Duty, a videogame?

True, but they aren’t rounding us up yet for “possessing a weapons cache” (i.e. more than one handgun and a knife), or for “possession of military documents” (i.e. a copy of the Star Fleet Technical Manual), or for “possession of military equipment” (a web belt, canteen, or even a magazine pouch).

So what? Obama has done that all his life.
