Obama To Defense Contractors: Skip The Pink Slips
IBD EDITORIALS ^ | October 2, 2012

Corruption: Our lawless president tells defense contractors they can break the law requiring politically inconvenient layoff notices caused by sequestration defense cuts, and the taxpayers will pay their legal bills.

When President Obama took the oath of office, he swore to uphold the Constitution and see that the laws of the United States were faithfully executed. He lied, and that lie was exposed in the administration's weekly document dump last Friday.

It included a memo from the Department of Labor telling defense contractors not to obey the law and that, if they don't, U.S. taxpayers will foot their legal bills when fired employees sue them for breaking the law.

That law is the WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice) Act, which requires employers to give workers a minimum of 60 days notice before potential mass layoffs. These layoffs are likely due to automatic cuts slashing defense that will occur on Jan. 2 under the sequestration provisions of the Budget Control Act.

The law requires $1.2 trillion in spending cuts, half coming from defense on top of a half-trillion in cuts already made by the Obama administration. That means layoff warning notices will be required by law to go out to hundreds of thousands of workers employed by defense contractors on Friday, Nov. 2, just days before the presidential election, a prospect President Obama and his campaign staff do not relish.

Robert Stevens, chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin, one of the largest defense contractors in the key battleground state of Virginia, recently testified in Congress that his company was looking at laying off roughly 10,000 employees from its workforce of 120,000.

The Administration ignores the “Defense of Marriage Act”, Immigration Law and Spending Laws (only Congress can authorize spending).

When a government picks and chooses which laws to enforce and which to ignore - we do not have a government. We have a tyranny.

Another lawless story the MSM will not cover. Does anyone else have to fight back the anger?

It would be easier to say what laws obama hasn’t broken and still no impeachment.
We have some really good people in government who for reasons unknown to everyone but them turn into blithering idiots when trying to point out obama is a disaster.
Where is B one Bob when you need him.

Funny how he takes the time and effort to “protect” his own arse but didn’t care to take the time or effort to protect our embassy in Benghazi.

Gutless, do nothing congress is just as bad as Obama. Just as lawless for congress to abdicate it’s responsibility as it is for the Obama to break the law. Why shouldn’t Obama break the law? There obviously aren’t any consequences.

Where is Romney on this? Oh, yeah, Romney.

Moving the “goal post” around.

Much like bad NFL substitute Ref calls.

This government activity used to be called: corruption.

If the third party “I ain't voting for Romney no way, no how, no matter what happens” group gets their way and draw enough of us from Romney, we'll only be in for more of this.

Exactly, and with the spread of lawlessness comes the need for the gun. How can our leaders demand that the people respect the law when they themselves obviously do not.

I just read that about 40 blacks have taken over a convenience store in Detroit, beat the hell out of the clerk, almost to death, and the police can do anything about it.

The law requires $1.2 trillion in spending cuts

I am so sick of these giant numbers being thrown around with built-in context to which the rest of us normies are not privy. The entire DoD budget does not encompass $1.2 trillion.

Now it's called "setting precedent". Obama set all kinds of precedents! Congress allowed him. The media allowed him. Now there truly is "no controlling legal authority...except for us slaves.

We keep hearing from realtors and former mortgage loan people that the major banks in Californa with large mortgages in default, have been warned by the out house criminals not to do anything on these defaults until after the election.

These mega mortgages in default run from San Diego up the coast and inland a couple of counties to the Northern part of wino counties.

Many were second and sometimes the third home as well as primary residences.
