TOPICS: News/Current Events; Politics/Elections; US: Ohio
KEYWORDS: absentee; ahia; obama; ohio; romney; wood
First read this article regarding the significance of wood county as a swing district (no puns intended):

http://articles.marketwatch.com/2012-05-16/economy/31717811_1_ohio-town-obama-credit-buckeye-state

Then look at absentee requests compared to 2008:

2008: 15400 total requests; Dems: 5500 requests; Repubs: 4000 requests;

2012: 7200 total requests thus far; Dems: 2269 requests; Repubs: 2373 requests;

In 2008, Obama received 52.7% in Wood (34,285 votes). McCain received 45.6% (29,648 votes). Statewide Obama received 51.5% and McCain 46.9%. So Wood county definitely can be considered a swing county, leading indicator and something else to keep an eye on.

TY! All this encouraging information FROM THE GROUND—not from polls and the MSM. I appreciate it!

Wood County swings because it is home to Bowling Green State University, the faculty of which is as left as Berkeley, and the mush-brained students who live on campus. Now that that Hopenchange is dead and buried, I suspect many of the utes will sleep in.

Has anyone heard anything about Maine-2 and Nebraska-2 ?

According to UC Boulder Romney can win ME-2 , actually will win, and I am assuming that NE-2 will go Romney (went 0 in 2008).
