Hyperinflationary Currency Collapse Is Leading To Big Anti-Regime Protests In Iran

Joe Weisenthal
October 3,2012

Earlier this week we wrote about how Iran's currency (the Rial) is in a state of total collapse, in part due to oil sanctions.

It's obvious that the spiraling cost of things is having a major destabilizing effect.

The BBC reports on protests:

Riot police in Iran have clashed with protesters in the capital over sharp falls in the currency, the rial.

Tear gas was used to disperse the demonstrators, some of whom were setting fire to tyres and rubbish bins. There were many arrests, reports say.

Eyewitnesses told the BBC that scores of people gathered outside the central bank, calling for the governor to stand down, chanting anti-government slogans.

Going nuclear and destroying Israel rank higher than their own people’s welfare. That tells you all you need know about radical Islam. Thanks, Jimmy.

Obama will just be a logarithmic degradation.

Instead of helping those opposing the Iranian government, 0bama's regime will be studying how they put down the protests.

obama is NOT a muslin
Perhaps he’s a wool sweater...

He is a pullover as in he has pulled one over on the American people.

Germany 1922: International sanctions (Treaty of Versailles) + Socialist political system + collapsing currency + racist scapegoating (Jews) => Rise of Hitler (1933) and WWII (1939-1945)

Iran 2012: International sanctions + Islamist/Fascist political system + collapsing currency + racist scapegoating (Jews) => ?

Let me see, this is a tough one, where do we think this is going?

And sure, there are differences, like Hitler’s coup attempt in ‘22 or ‘23 failed and he went to prison to regroup, while the Islamist coup in ‘79 succeeded. Hitler harnessed German industrial might, Ahmadinejad is working on getting a nuke for his might.

Iran is an Islamic welfare state.

The enforcers of the regime are the basij, who operate as "morality police" and deal with people who speak out against the regime. They are recruited and locally controlled by the clerics of the local mosques. Their role is to enforce Islamic orthodoxy. Most are recruited from the rural poor. They serve as the regime's way to keep the educated middle class on a leash. Visualize if Obama had recruited the underclass here, and made them official "Guardians of Homeland Security", with the legal power to arrest and beat up anti-government elements.

It looks like their currency is on a long slide. When the regime loses the ability to pay the basiji with money that actually buys anything, the regime loses its ability to stay in control of Iran.

“-—another example”-—that’s true. there isn’t. The mideast news agencies have been talking about this for months. Sanctions do explain the shortage of consumer goods simply because the Persians can’t keep their tankers/freighters running and no one else will haul for them for lack of insurance. So the freight can’t get back to mullahland. If that were the only factor the money ratio would not be affected much. It is overspending/ over printing, plain and simple, by the mullahs, that has the value of the Rial diving. They are finding out that their income stream is not big enough to finance all the skullduggery around the world that they have been running. Not to mention their rocket program along with the nuclear enrichment stuff. Their economy simply never was big enough to finance the krapholes they keep shoving money into besides no longer being able to feed themselves due to excessive sister-bangin’ population growth. They had the oil income stream to help them build a modern economy but even oil production has been sliding for lack of field maintenance. As with the other mideast Kingbats they couldn’t stand to do the right thing for the folks——they had it and now you’re watching them lose it. Just too dam bad they have to hurt other people to learn/not learn their lesson.

This is our future if Obozo remains president. Eventually the national debt will be monetized which will lead to hyperinflation and a military dictatorship to tame civil unrest.

=> Rise of Hitler (1933) and WWII (1939-1945)

I wouldn't be surprised to see someone worse than Ahmadinejad come along next in Iran. That seems to be the general direction the last 50 years when it comes to musli-terrorist leadership: i.e., from bad to worse. Things never get better. Their new leaders are always more extreme and more insane than their old leaders. Good point. WWIII could be our next stop on this insane train.

This is a huge story, IMO. Not something the Iranian regime can ‘fix’ overnight, but on the contrary it’s a situation which could spiral out of their control very quickly.

I hope we are ready to exploit any cracks in the regime’s power base.
