Presidential debate moderator Jim Lehrer is being lobbied hard to ask questions about gun control and violent crime during Wednesdays debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, and that just might be a splendid idea with unintended consequences for the president and his anti-rights supporters.
That may not play well in Seattle, where the Seattle Times has offered one of the most tepid endorsements ever to grace its editorial page, recommending that voters re-elect the president.
The Brady Campaign is trying to add momentum to the effort by publishing a letter from families of Batman massacre victims in Aurora, Colo. They want Lehrer to ask Obama and Romney how they might solve the problem of so-called gun violence.
Romneys first and best answer to such a question would be that within 24 hours after taking office, he would order his attorney general to enforce the contempt of Congress citation against Eric Holder. And, Romney could add, he would also order his attorney general to fire those responsible for Operation Fast and Furious, and if warranted, pursue criminal charges against them.
That operation has contributed to enormous "gun violence" that Univision had the courage to reveal.

Remember that Mitt signed an assault weapons ban.
This is a set up.
Disarm the democratic “voters.” They don’t even remotely try in Chicago since that would mean a large and valued portion of the democratic machine would have a temper tantrum.
How about, “Should the Fast and Furious guns have been controlled?”
A segue to Fast and Furious with a short background of the program and a refutation that the program started with Bush (Wide Receiver) could be absolutely deadly for Obama’s chances.
I’m sure David Axelrod went to Petco and bought a shock collar which Leherer will wear during the debate. If he even brings up a hint of this they’ll press the button.
Bingo. Itys a BAD idea. Only Obama can benefit from this issue. It will force Romney to make achoice between appearing too strong on gun rights and just being benevolently silent on the subject.
We KNOW where he SAYS he stands, We also know where Obama stands despite what he may say.
The debate should focus on jobs, the economy, cap and trade, the trade inbalance with China, attacks on the Constitution in general by Obama, and the mess in foreign policy.
Correct answer: “I strongly support the right to bear arms. I strongly support and will defend the US Constitution, which President Obama has publicly blamed for his failure to lead this nation.”
Mr. President, what was the purpose and goals of Operation Fast & Furious?
5.56mm
Did Operation Castaway have the same purpose and goals as Operation Fast & Furious.
5.56mm
Some one needs to remind the Brady Bunch that Wisconsin had over 600,000 licensed hunters in 2011 and there were no deaths from hunting accidents with a gun.
We need to control the CRAZIES like the Colorado shooter-—not the guns in the hands of people who are no threat.
Ask Obama if he was a ordinary citizen and didn’t have the Secret Service to protect him and someone broke into his house, maybe someone on drugs, and threatened to kill his family what would he do?
Remember that Mitt signed an assault weapons ban.
Correct - It’s the economy, stupid.
Every answer Romney give should be about jobs and growth.
If they bring up guns mention jobs and growth in the gun industry due to Obama. Then move on to his policies that are destroying jobs and growth.
Every time the left mentions gun control, we need to hammer home the facts of Fast and Furious.
Since people tend to take some things I say out of context, let me start by saying I DON’T support that he did, but he did it at the state level, far before the Supreme Court decided that the Second Amendment applies to states as well.
The Tenth Amendment can be a tricky thing.
