Since 1952, only one other Republican candidate did as well among union voters -- Ronald Reagan in 1980, who also had a gap of just 7 points between overall support and union support. But Reagan wasn’t able to repeat his magic in 1984 -- his union vote trailed his national vote by 13 points. And that pattern continued until McCain in 2008, with the gap bouncing between 11 and 13 points from 1984 to 2004.
So there’s some support for the notion that Republicans are doing pretty well among union voters these days.

We’ll need 80% of their votes this Nov, if we’re to rid of that POS 0bummer, and offset the illegal/dead/multiple voters.

Someone else said that union members can tell their bosses they will vote one way to avoid harassment, but behind the curtain, vote Republican.
And the ratio was probably somewhat higher in 2010. The voters were ANGRY with how the Democrat majorities in the House and Senate just rubber-stamped the agenda flowing from the Current Regime in the White Hut.
That anger has not abated, no matter WHAT the “conventional wisdom” says. Sure, the turnout is being touted as being “in favor” of retention of this corrupt bunch of bandits. We may still end up with a corrupt bunch of bandits, but it stands a very good chance of being a quite different bunch, and there is a short period during which the replacements may be counted upon to actually effect some change.
With luck, the change could even turn out to be positive.
I strongly favor Keystone and am gladly voting against Obama, but I base my decisions on reality, and "500,000 union jobs" from Keystone simply is not credible. Here is what the American Petroleum Institute says:

Projects like this, along with additional investment in oil sands development in Canada and expansion of pipelines and refineries in the U.S. make it possible to realize an additional 500,000 U.S. jobs in 2035.
I’d be very interested to see this broken down by type of union - most people in unions today are in public employee unions, not steelworkers, electricians, etc. And public employee union members (SEIU etc) have somewhat of a vested interest in keeping the $$ flowing
With respect to Federal employees here is a possible answer.

Pretty much. As highly paid as these union workers are paid they are getting killed with taxes and union dues.
I am a member of a public employee union and I vote straight Republican or Conservative Party. I can tell you that all the talk around my work is anti-Obama this time around.

With all the bad press unions are getting, I view the rank and file much differently than union management. First, the claims that union members are highly paid and get great benefits is a big plus, but more importantly you are getting killed with taxes and union dues and within the union system either you drink the Kool-aid or you are turned into hamburger meat. That must be a horrible environment to work in unless you are a total scumbag as a person and love to see people browbeaten and intimidated.
Dues go to Rats, but you can bet your behind that pretty much all of the union in Fairbanks is voting for Romney. These guys still have to pay the bills like the rest of us!
The GOP will get my vote, so there’s another one.
And the Unions know it. And its absolutely eating them up inside.
They can’t understand why anyone would vote against their “economic self-interest”. They go off on “bitter clinger” style rants. Real meltdown stuff.
