Refinery problems send California gas prices skyrocketing
Contra Costa Times ^ | October 3, 2012 | Gary Richards

When Errol Emrich drove by a Shell station in his San Jose neighborhood last weekend, regular gas was selling for $4.05 a gallon. On Monday, it was $4.15. On Tuesday, $4.25. And this weekend? Analysts say it could reach a whopping $4.40. Problems at California refineries have slashed supplies across the state, cutting fuel production and raising wholesale prices -- the price stations pay for their gasoline -- by as much as 73 cents, to levels not seen since 2007.

How stupid do you have to be to not see the direct correlation between government policy (in this case, state) and a products price (in this case, gas)? These are "... people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard."

Of course it’s Bush’s fault, Sure couldn’t be the Current Occupant’s fault, now could it? The election is much too close, and California will manage to eke out a distinct majority for Obama-Biden anyway.

No matter how much the Central Valley and northern California residents may hate that outcome. The coastal strip trumps EVERYTHING there.

A conservative is just a Liberal who got mugged.

Consider yourself collateral damage in the mugging of all California Liberals.

It will be worth it in the long run.

California holds no electoral votes for Romney so I don't care if gas is ten bucks a gallon there. In fact I hope it is. Libtards deserve it !

I know there are many good conservatives out in California so my apology's in advance to all of you fine folks. I don't know how you do it.

Wouldn’t it be great if Californians were paying $10/gal. on Nov. 6 and couldn’t afford to get to the polls to vote for the man largely responsible for it?
Karma would be a beautiful thing.

This is what the econazis in CA have always wanted: gas prices equal to or exceeding Europe. Now they have it, and now they scream.

But at least they'll have clean air.

The Kenyan must go.

WTI oil is at $88/bl. If it drops any more California will be paying $10/gal. for gas. Why this is so is called West Coast Logic.

Yep, whenever anyone talks about gas prices I make it a point to say “Well ya know, we’re never gonna see low gas prices again until we get Bush and his oil company cronies out of the White House”. I love watching the double takes.

“Wouldn’t it be great if Californians were paying $10 a gallon on November 6th?”

Well thanks guys. Believe it or not, although outnumbered, there are a lot of conservatives here in California.

Several hours ago I saw a report on television. A number of Costco outlets are completely out of gas right now, in Southern California. When will they have more? They don’t know. I went out and filled my car up right away at our local station. The price, $0.30 cents more per gallon than it was late last week.

Evidently, this shortage has the capacity to be widespread. Other station owners are talking shut-downs. I don’t predict this will get ugly, but who knows.

If you live in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan region, get gas NOW.

Today the average person in California is finding out about costs associated with the kind of government they have voted for. Refineries have been closing for years and they have been highly regulated. The U.S. refinery industry has spent $128 billion since 1990 to comply with federal environmental regulations..
