Chicago Pot Farm’s Plants as Big as Trees
ABC News ^ | Oct 3, 2012 3:13pm | Andy Fies

Urban farming is usually thought of as a niche business for high-end food produce. In Chicago, it has taken on a new meaning.

Police in a helicopter stumbled upon what may be the largest outdoor pot farm in the city’s history. Planted in rows and spread over an area the size of two football fields, as many as 1,500 plants averaging 6 feet tall were growing amidst heavy brush in an industrial area on the city’s South Side.

“This would not be visible from the street,” said Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy at a press conference today. “It’s surrounded by a huge field that you wouldn’t see anywhere (but) from the air.” He estimated the hidden pot to be worth $7 million to $10 million. …

If you’ve ever seen pictures of a outdoor pot growing operation, Christmas tree size plants are pretty much the norm. And there are pot farms in the Danial Boone National Forrest in Ky that make this look like a backyard flower bed.

I'm so glad that the police have the homicide problem wrapped up; now they can focus on those dastardly drug dealers.

The Kenyan must go.

Convert it into “medical marijuana”. Just double the street price with no real strings attached, unless somebody does a DUI sort of thing. Get revenue without hounding honest taxpayers.

Selling someone something they want to buy is worse than murder.

There were cautions in Oregon not to go off the trails in national parks because the pot growers would shoot you.

But not because moonshiners would shoot you? I wonder why that is ...

There are probably 800 hundred million pot plants in the U.S.

Why is this even news?

Speaking of “the Kenyan Must Go!” I remember that song that would be the theme song for the Kenyan’s Choom Gang:

I smoke two joints in the morning,
I smoke two joints at night.
I smoke two joints in the afternoon,
It makes me feel all right.
I smoke two joints in time of peace,
And two in time of war.
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints,
And then I smoke two more.

My Daddy he once told me
Son you be hard working man.
Momma she once told me Son
you do the best you can.
And then one day I met a man
Who came to me and said,
“Hard work good, and hard work fine
but first take care of Head.”

Obambi gets up at 9 or 10am each day, no doubt after an evening of “taking care.”

I find that encouraging, for reasons that have nothing to do with drug use. On the prepper threads there has been some concern over police helicopters and unmanned drones being used to hunt down homesteaders and preppers. If, in Chicago, with all their helicopters, airport traffic, nosy neighbors, and more, took so long to find this place that the plants grew that big, then realistically, what are their chances of noticing my little homestead in the middle of nowhere? Especially if I don’t plant in straight rows and use underground buildings where practical?

Can’t be. No one in America smokes domestic dope. If they do, it’s merely “personal stash”. Doper rights advocates assure us that all violence in Mexico and on the border would magically cease if pot were legalized. Kidnappings, gun running, government corruption, human trafficking, etc are all because of dope and not criminal enterprise, apparently.
