Saudi Arabia to limit power of religious police

Saudi Arabia is to limit the power of its notorious religious police, raising hopes that draconian social controls will be eased in the ultra-conservative Islamic kingdom.

After years of complaints of humiliation and abuse, particularly from women, the all-male agents of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice could be emasculated by the reforms.

Sheikh Abdullatiff Abdel Aziz al-Sheikh, the head of the force, said that its authority to arrest and question suspects would be transferred to regular police officers, while it also would be unable to carry out raids on homes without prior and higher approval. …

A HUGE victory for the Muslim Brotherhood, and the probability of another version of “Arab Spring” coming to Saudi Arabia. Expect the royal Saudi family to take flight, much like the Shah of Iran did during the Jimmy Carter administration.

And we all know how THAT turned out.

Now if we can just get the Iranians engaged in a fight with the Muslim Brotherhood thugs that will succeed the Saudis, won’t that be an interesting display of “moderate” Islam?

Can't be emasculated, though, if you were never masculine to begin with.
