When Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama were asked to compare their education plans, both candidates went out of their way to say they support public education. ,,,,,

"When he says that people should borrow money from their parents to go to college, that indicates … the degree to which folks, just don't have that option," Obama said.

Romney responded: "I don't have any plan to cut education funding. But I do agree with you that where you put your money says something about your priorities."

"You put $90 billion into green energy," Romney said. "I'm all for green energy but you could have hired two million teachers with that money."

Having to pay your own college tuition is kind of self-regulatory.

When parents pay for the tuition I’m sure we get more Liberal Arts majors.

When students pay their own we I’m sure we end up with more business majors.

I loved that line. Romney has a way of showing people just how misguided obama’s spending is. Of course, that’s because obama is a mack-daddy, spreading sugar to his supporters.

Obama didn't want to go the GM route because he knew all Romney would have to do is state the fact that GM went bankrupt despite billions in “loans” and hundreds of thousands did lose their jobs due to dealership and service center closings.

> obama’s spending is.

I submit that spending that money on millions of more union member, nominally literate teachers is misguided as well.

Better not to spend the money at all.

We need more physicians, engineers, and scientists, and I don’t think we’ll get there by throwing yet more money at the dismal government school collective.

Time for a radically new education paradigm.

A lot of media folks were asking why Obama didn't bring up the 47%.

Since we know we've been infiltrated royally, I'd say that Romney had a "knock your socks off" answer.

Business majors aren’t any better than liberal art majors, not for life in business nor life in general. They should just go out and work.

The video that was just released with Obama talking against the 53+% may have something to do with not bringing it up. It’s coming though. I’m sure.

He’s sure not liking the public shellacking he took from Romney.

I actually yelled, “YES!!” at my monitor when Romney said the word, “Solyndra,” to Obama.

The theme song for this debate should be: "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor."

Obama talked about how much more energy is being produced. Romney told him that the increase has been on private lands and that Obama has cut the drilling permits in half. THUD!

Obama said he wanted 100,000 teachers in science and math. Romney said that with the 90 billion he spent on green energy, he could have hired 2 million teachers. THUD!

Obama talked about the tax breaks given to the oil industry. Romney said that it amounts to 2.8 billion a year and went to small businesses in the energy sector. But the 90 billion Obama gave to green energy was almost 50 times the money given to the oil companies. THUD!

Romney said a friend of his said that Obama didn't pick winners and losers in energy, he just picked losers. THUD!

Romney said he would double the number of drilling permits on Federal lands, and get the oil offshore and in Alaska. He would still favor coal as a clean energy source, and he would complete the Keystone pipeline. He said that he would create 4 million jobs. THUD!

Romney said that 50% of college graduates can't get jobs. THUD!

Romney told Lehrer that he would stop borrowing money from China to pay for subsidies. THUD!

And I hope black parents with children in failing schools were paying attention because Romney wants to let those parents have vouchers to choose what schools their children go to. THUD!

Romney believes that the states are in a better position to determine how health care dollars are spent. The Federal Government shouldn't be trying to run the Health Care for all 50 states. THUD!

We'd be better off with more trade schools and apprenticeships.

He said stop borrowing to pay for PBS! THUD, THUD.

He slapped Uncle Jim right across the face. He said I’m going to kill you and your ilk.

‘We need more physicians, engineers, and scientists, and I don’t think we’ll get there by throwing yet more money at the dismal government school collective.”.

Preparing students for positions as described in the quote requires a solid basic educational background, which starts by having good QUALIFIED teachers. Simply stated, “You can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear”. Students aspiring to become those physicians, engineers and scientists need to be prepared BEFORE they move upward in their education.

While I am NOT in favor of a “governmental school collective”, doing away with the unions, as Walker did in Wisconsin, would be the best place to start. There are thousands of good teachers who practice their skills every day WITHOUT being union members.
