Matthews Goes On Mini-Tingle Rant: ... (PMSLSD Delusion Alert)
Mediaite ^ | 10/4/2012 | Noah Rothman

Posted on 10/04/2012 7:34:23 PM PDT by markomalley

On Thursday’s Hardball, MSNBC host Chris Matthews and former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown performed a postmortem on Wednesday night’s presidential debate which most political observers agreed President Barack Obama lost. Matthews was confused how, “objectively,” a man with such “scope,” “relevance,” and an “I.Q. in the hundred and whatever range” lost the debate. Brown said that he thought Obama was concerned that if he took on Mitt Romney, the public may have perceived him as “taking advantage of a lesser.”

Matthews asked Brown if there was hope for the president to not cede too much ground to Romney because, in his estimation, Obama had a stronger command of the facts even though he lost on style.

“It’s very, very difficult to get people in the world observing politicians ever come to the substance,” said Brown. “They always go for style. They are always influenced by performances. And I believe that Mr. Obama took a licking last night. The public knows that. And now to suggest that the facts support what his position was supposed to be, I don’t think carries.”

Matthews agreed and said, “objectively,” that President Obama should not have lost the debate because he has such a command of style as well as substance. Matthews also noted that Obama has an I.Q. “in in the hundred and whatever range.”

I do look up to him in so many ways. And when I’m with him, I do say to myself – and I do this really objectively, I think – I listen to him after he’s briefed on something and I think, ‘this guy ought to be president.’ He has the command of the issues. He has scope. He has relevance. He can talk to you as a regular person in common English, as well as the wonk talk. He’s got an I.Q. that must be in the hundred and whatever range – way up there. And yet last night he was tongue-tied. He let the other guy own the room.

“What do you think was on his mind,” Matthews asked Brown.

Brown said that Obama was too conscious of being perceived as “arrogant” and, if he had taken Romney to task, the president may have been “perceive as taking advantage of a lesser.”

I think the election and the thought that his “messiah” might lose is starting to get to little Chrissy. He looks like he’s under a lot of pressure right now. He needs to lighten up before he has a heart attack. Maybe some time off and a few long walks.

Whereas Romney,OTOH,having two degrees from Harvard and having made many tens of millions in the dreaded *private* sector, clearly has an IQ somewhere in the 70's.

Per the dopes on Hardball, Obama lost because he was performing an an act of kindness, so Romney wouldn’t look so bad.

“I.Q. in the hundred and whatever range”

The numerical value of “whatever” has been determined to be 1. As in 101.

Think ‘Bell Curve’. Being as Affirmative Action Person entitles one (the WON in this case) to being seen as smart and insightful.

Reality is Affirmative Action blind.

Pity!

Someone needs to clue Chrissy in that an IQ in the “hundred and whatever range” is pretty average, but I guess.to a guy like him, whose IQ strains to reach two digits, it must be huge.

I don’t care how smart Obama is. He was completely over his head in the debate and had absolutely no idea of many of the things Romney was talking about. His lack of knowledge all things economic was apparent as was his awareness of the Constitution. The MSM can spin it any direction they wish - Obama was out of his element.

Delusional is right.

Let's see ... a former CEO vs. a former "community organizer." I'm thinking the "community organizer" is going to be the lesser of those two about 99.999999% of the time.

That's a good point. These partisan leftists in the MSM ask themselves incredulously why Obama never mentioned things like the "47%" comment, Paul Ryan's own votes on Medicare, etc. -- as if Obama had deliberately refrained from bringing those subjects up.

What dingbats like Matthews don't realize is that the much simpler explanation is likely to be the correct one: Obama never brought any of these things up because he doesn't have a clue about them. He can't count to 47, he has no idea how Paul Ryan voted on any issue of substance in Congress, and wouldn't know the difference between a billion and a trillion if you gave him a month to figure it out.

I don’t care how smart Obama is.”

I’ve always found it interesting that some people think just because someone has a high IQ that they are smart. Watched Jeopardy recently. Three high IQ people in their 30’s competing who knew a lot of weird stuff. But two questions none of them could answer - What month does the Electoral College meet and in what month does the 2012 Session of the Supreme Court begin. There was also a category whose answers were about people involved in the original Constitution and only one was answered correctly. Sad state of affairs.

Obama is average. He has gotten where he is because he ‘used’ his blackness. Along the way he has had many people covering for him. The media helped make him president. When he is left to his own devices, no pre-written speeches and no media to cover for him, it is obvious that he is on the lower scale of average.
When you add in the fact that he believes his own bs, and theirs, it makes him especially vulnerable up against someone who knows what they are talking about. He falls apart. I don’t expect it to get any better. Now he is pissed which will make him erratic.

I got the impression that O had memorized certain responses and lead lines. That was his “homework.”

When Romney failed to let a point go, and good for him I might add, he would default to one of those lines. Often not even in the context of what was being discussed at the time.

I agree with you, I don’t think he knew what was being discussed most of the evening.

No TOTUS, no adoring cheering crowd, no media shield...bad night for O.

You gotta think that sooner or later the dozens of people who actually watch this network on a regular basis are going to get sick of listening to the same self-delusional claptrap anymore.

How long can you watch Der Fuhrer push around non-existent armies on a map before you say the hell with it? I don't see MSDNC lasting through next year if this keeps up.

Chrissy had a brain fart. Brown is stupid enough to sniff it.

Later on Thursday, Matthews at least appeared to concede to the network people (Charlie Rose, I think) that Obama had not performed, had not delivered (Willie Brown's contention), so at least he listened to Brown.

Of course, he couldn't resist the urge to tingle out a long ramble about what Obama should have said -- "if I were Obama", etc. Chrissie still tingles for Barky.

I recall in the 2008 debates when Hillary brought up his connection with Rezco (sp?) and the illegal dealings between him and Obama. The press absolutely ignored that opening and then AFTER Obama was POTUS the news came out and Rezco is now in prison. ...Where this usurper should be.

There are some people who simply want their beliefs re-inforced. And if they hear something to the contrary, they want to plug their ears. That's why an MSDNC or a Current TV can survive.
