California gasoline prices jump 17 cents a gallon overnight

SAN FRANCISCO -- California gas prices rose 17 cents a gallon overnight due to supply disruptions at some refineries and seasonally low inventories, bringing the one-week increase in the Golden State to nearly 36 cents.

The average retail price of gasoline was $4.486 on Friday morning, up from $4.315 on Thursday and $4.131 a week ago, according to AAA data. The average price was $3.818 a year ago.

The average price is just 12 cents below the highest recorded statewide price of $4.61, which was reached in June of 2008.

"It's insane," said Matt Hurd, 35, who works in real estate. "Especially with this thing," he added, motioning toward his white SUV. "It's going to cost triple digits to fill it up."

In recent weeks, California refineries have dropped production in anticipation of switching over to a "winter blend" of gasoline next month.

At the same time, a power outage at Exxon Mobil Corp's Torrance, California refinery on Monday and a shutdown of the crude distillation unit at Chevron Corp's Richmond, California refinery contributed to the tight supplies.

Imagine if the CA gas prices got so out of hand that CA went for Romney? LOL! 55 EVs.

I've been putting this sticker on gas pumps:

"Somehow we have to figure
out how to boost the price of
gasoline to the [$8-$10/gal]
levels in Europe." - Barack Obama's
Energy Secretary Steve Chu. Had enough yet???

I've sized mine to fit twelve to a sheet of easy to remove bumper sticker stock...

I will send a dozen stickers to anyone who FReepmails me their address.

I will send the Excel file to anyone who FReepmails me their email address, PROVIDED they promise to only use removable stock.

Maybe if it hits $7 a gallon by November? Doubt it. Californistan is lost. Hard to believe Reagan was governor of that state.

Barry’s “media” was telling us last month that we love paying big bucks for gas. I wonder if that is going to change now.

Sounds good.

Was checking Gas Buddy.

Station out in Simi Valley is asking 5.69 a gallon.

Pie in the sky but that’s what Obama pedals so we can dream.

It would be funny to see Romney head to CA and give a speech at a gas station, replete with $5 gas prices. And say, “This is will be the norm if Obama is re-elected.”

Why not allocated half a day, maybe when in nevada, and hop across state line. It would scare the crap out of Chicago.

I still don’t know why they don’t hammer gas prices as much (Romney mentioned it once during debate - and Obama winced).

It impacts everyone. And it is a simple message, even for the low info voter ($1.79 on 1/09, EPA, Keystone, Obama on tape approving of $4 gas, ‘energy prices will skyrocket’, Chu on record wanting $10 gas, etc).

Not a peep from the MSM.

The average brain-dead California voter will not know what to think unless their entertainment devices have told them it matters.

About $3.35/gallon here for regular, I pay $3.85 for diesel.

And now the real story.

U.S is lost. Hard to believe Reagan was president of that country.

CA is so in the bag for 0bumble that I doubt that $10/gallon gas would tilt it for Romney. $5/gallon certainly won’t do it.

This goes WAY beyond “Bush’s fault”. Obviously, this is a dirty Republican Plot to try to make the Fearless Leader, that Californistan so dearly endorses, look bad just before the Most Important Election EVER.

Silicon Valley has been good to the Current Regime, and to some degree, he reciprocates by steering a lot of “green energy” projects their way.

Just because most of these projects have gone bust, no need to give up now. The very next one is going to be the breakthrough that negates all the high fossil energy costs and brings back the lollipops and balloons to LaLa land.

Yeah, all this crap about California is coming from people who think that wherever they are, they are safe from what’s happening here! While I decry the h high gas prices, I consider the delta my campaign contribution to Romney. If FUBO is re-elected, you will see these price levels all over the country, count on it!

It’s insane to say the least.

How a country so energy resource rich can allow its citizens and economy to be pummeled by a bunch of utopian greenoids who harbor a mentality that borders insanity.. better to live in the dark and shiver in the cold as long as the air is crystal clean

The Californian liberal sheeple will still vote enmasse for the One.

Isn’t $5 a gallon gas a sacred American privilege?
