National Journal ^

A new poll shows a slight change in the presidential race immediately following Wednesday night's debate in Denver, with a 4-point lead for President Obama the day before the debate becoming a 1-point deficit the day after his uninspiring peformance.

On Tuesday, the Washington, D.C.-based Clarus Research Group surveyed 590 likely voters and found Obama leading Mitt Romney, 49 percent to 45 percent. On Thursday, Clarus found, in an identical number of interviews, that Romney had inched ahead by 1 point, 47 percent to 46 percent.

Dontcha just love the use of the word.."slight"...

General consenus, on all sides.. is that at least 90%, if not more of the electorate is firmly locked in..committed to one of the candidates, and can't be swayed. So, if there's a maximum of 10% available, and we now have a 5 point swing..according to the article..that means that the one debate swayed 50% of the voters that could be influenced...

Looks like Obama is settling in around 46-48 after the debate. I feel pretty good about that 30 days out. Romney needs to put the hammer down the next two weeks (Ryan and Townhall debate and more good ads), and he’s in good shape.

I can’t even Watch Obama open his yap, but I am going to enjoy watching Ryan take Biden to the mat.

Bring on the popcorn. On second thought, I expect to be laughing so hard I’d better not. I might choke on it!

I've seen a couple of old videos of Obama speaking and he is very good.. yes, he is likely to "knock the next one out of the park!".. he does not need a teleprompter, he's a natural speaker..

IF the subject is America is the most detestable place to live and is to blame for all the World's ills; or perhaps simply the standard theme of the Black Victims Industry's America is RACIST and must be taken down!

.. otherwise he needs a teleprompter to read because anything other than condemnation of America is like a foreign language to him.

According to the chart you posted, 2012 retail gasoline sales (in gallons) has dropped nearly in half from 2007 levels.

Is this even possible? I know that I still get stuck in traffic jams every time I go to work!

Obama got beat because the things that would improve the economy aren’t of interest to him or he would have learned them long ago.

It gets better - Mitt has shown he's quite comfortable in a teleprompter-less debate, while Obama is lost in space - all the pressure is on Obama now.

Obama would probably love to get away for some golf or vacationing right now - but he can't!! He's gotta listen to a bunch of honkies tell him "Do this" and "Don't do that" for the next 2 weeks.

Enjoy the debates.

They’re DOE numbers, and there are three decades worth on that chart.

I'm not disputing your DOE chart...it just seems to me that if people were driving half as much as they used to, there wouldn't be all these traffic jams everywhere.

Maybe other areas of the country are seeing less traffic on the roads?

I want Paul Ryan to cram like Joe Biden was a blooming rose!!! Biden is, by far....the dumbest human being in the universe......but....I would take nothing for granted. Ryan has to be on top of his and the game to insure the political wipeout of Joe Biden. Please Paul...we love ya, but take nothing for granted. Proper planning, expert knowledge of the debate material, excellent delivery, bestows proper, successful, victory, performance!!! Do it!!!

Biden is a good debater and won every single debate in which he appeared with Hillary and Obama.

He lies and misrepresents like crazy, but it’s so natural to him that he gets away with it. There’s no way that some MSM journalist will call him on it.

Ryan’s signature retort to Joe Biden next Thursday should be “There you again Joe, making stuff up”.

The bump is nice, but probably temporary. And it’s nice Romney won the first debate, but we shouldn’t read too much into that. Virtually all incumbents since 1980 have lost the first debate. I think the only exception was Clinton. I have a hunch His Majesty is going to come out with all guns blazing in the next debate. I hope Romney isn’t overconfident.
