Md. Dems face redistricting mutiny
Politico ^ | October 5, 2012 | Charles Mahtesian

As Maryland voters prepare for a November referendum to decide the fate of the state’s new congressional map, Montgomery Gazette columnist Blair Lee chronicles the quandary faced by Democratic Party leaders in strongly Democratic, earnestly liberal and good government-oriented Montgomery County.

On one hand, the newly drawn map — one of the most ridiculously gerrymandered in the nation — maximizes Democratic opportunities across the state. On the other, the new congressional lines are an indefensible affront to good government — an issue of concern in the affluent suburb of Washington, D.C., one the nation’s top goo-goo outposts.

IIRC, the state of Kansas was also having MAJOR gerrymandering issues. A leading conservative, running for office, had his district lines redrawn, effectively removing his residence from the district he hoped to represent, which would have have invalidated his candidacy. This was appealed, and I believe he did win the appeal.

The Dems fought the new Texas maps tooth and nail. The CRVA gives judges a fig leaf to cover blatant judicial activism in Texas.

In Maryland, being ruled by a corrupt one party system for a century means that Dems can invalidate all the votes in rural areas. While Pubbies are forced every gerrymandering law and rule the Dems can invent.

Nuts.

I hate this state.

You cannot imagine the visceral loathing that boils up from the depths of my bowels for the government of this state.

Then again, maybe you can.

I have you both beat on this. Talk is cheap. I am not going to stay here to complain. I’m getting my house ready to sell and am looking seriously for a job on the other side of the Potomac. Preferably on the other side of the Rappahannock.

I myself feel a blue-fire-hot hatred for Martin O’Malley, which will probably last long after 2014.

I myself am planning to flee all the way to Texas, or maybe Arizona or even Alaska, after my Mom passes, whenever that may be. She lives with me and depends on me, so I don’t have much of a choice but to stay right now.

Yes, Monty County Rats will be navel gazing through November 7th on the redistricting plan for Maryland. What remains unstated is that the current plan limits the number of seats that could be won by Nubians. Typical of racist Rats.

I just lost my father a month ago...the only thing holding us here is my father-in-law.

We are already working on our exfil plan to Florida. (Key West)

The Mrs. and I decided we did not want to move twice and KW is where we want to end up.
