McNerney was walking back to campus with Zach DeCicco from Main Street Brew House on South Main Street when they were approached near the rear of Lombardis Auto Service by as many as six males wanting to steal a cellphone, Stanek said.

Obama phones not good enough?
Apparently not.
It must have taken some extreme violence to have killed that poor guy, his neck is as thick as most peoples’ legs! The predators are getting bolder than ever, and it WILL get much worse over the next month at least, IMO.

Zach’s story about what happened seems suspicious to me.
The map shows the auto repair place near the top of the display with the big black roof. Campus housing is to the right.
17 years ago, when my youngest was looking at colleges, we drove to see W&J. At that time, it had the reputation of producing more physicians and lawyers than any other college. My daughter wanted to be a physician.
While driving a few blocks from campus, it took me a few minutes to look around and tell her that she was not going tp college there. Every store was boarded up...graffiti everywhere. It was a dump!
It’s better than it was then, they’ve cleaned up downtown but you have roving bands from other neighbor hoods that swoop in to prey on the college kids. They have a pretty good idea who the perps are.
...found unresponsive in the parking lot of an auto repair garage at South College and East Maiden streets.
Six on two. Once again, the racial aspect of this murder/ assault have been conveniently omitted by the media. Earlier, the article showed “0 Comments”. Now, there is no comments tab at all.
At what point does *someone* address this issue? These are hate crimes.
Google Maps showed me two locations for Lombardi’s. One is at Maiden and College, just a block east of Main.
When it gets bad enough, citizens will begin to gun the maggots down and leave their rotting carcasses in the street.
Only then will true progress begin to be made.
I think you’re right, tomkat- on all counts. Sometimes, I’m surprised it hasn’t started happening already, but a lot of people don’t know.
“...you have roving bands from other neighbor hoods that swoop in to prey on the college kids. They have a pretty good idea who the perps are.”
That’s so unfortunate. We’re looking at colleges now for my older daughter’s boy, and a safe environment is top priority. I’m sure we all want that for our children and grandchildren. How sad for this young man and his family.
When you look at the number of deaths of college students vs those in a combat zone, these days a young person is far safer, even as an infantry grunt in a combat zone.
Washinton suffered from a delining economy during the waning of the steel and fabriation industries. Much retail business moved out to the suburbs.
Wash, Pa. is experiencing an economic re-birth due to the oil and gas boom and will recover I suggest.
As to this particular incident, it never would have happened in my day. This is the result of making allowanes for "special" people who do not fear retribution for even the most serious crimes. This has to (and will) change.
Sounds like more Black Racist violence and thuggery.
Time to stop acting like White Guilt Liberals and deal with it
It doesn't take the presence of a "weapon" to be a situation where you should be in fear for your life. There are plenty of ways to get killed by somebody who is "unarmed".
The victims are college students. As usual on most campuses they can't CCW so they are obviously unarmed prey to criminals and the criminals know it. In this case it may have saved a life. Six on two are mighty poor odds even when the two are big football players.
Personally, if I am attacked by someone "unarmed", I would consider myself in deadly peril and fear for my life and respond accordingly - even if it were just some rambunctious "yutes" trying to get another free ObamaPhone (strangely enough, no description of the killers in the article so one can rightly assume their racial makeup). But the local Gun Free Zone Rules assured these guys never had a decent chance despite their muscles and conditioning.
...students had gathered for an impromptu vigil during the day. Young people shared condolences on a large remembrance banner... the student health center hosted professional counselors all day.... (see tagline)
I just looked to see if W&J has the same reputation as they did when my daughter was considering it...sure enough...it’s still a great school.
The college has a focus on preparing students for graduate school and professional programs. Across all disciplines, 85% to 90% of students who apply to such programs receive offers of admission. Among students who apply to medical school or related health graduate programs, 90% of students gain admission. Approximately 11% of all current W&J alumni are physicians and engineers, making the college third in the nation per capita for producing doctors and scientific researchers. Among students who apply to law school, approximately 90% of students gain admission.

Also, I went to a few fraternity parties there around 1962-63 when I was in nursing school in Pittsbugh. They were Phi Delts. One guy is now a retired dentist, and the other is a lawyer.
Not an update but it the above video press conference they at least describe the suspects.
Notice how the media have pointed out that one of the victims was once stopped for speeding and failure to wear a seat belt. In 2010, one was charged with disorderly conduct, and in May, one was drunk.
Dispicable!
They were on the other side of the street because those long narrow buildings across the street are the Lincoln projects. That’s where the perps came from. Story sounds legit.
The Putzburgh Post Gazette is called Pravda at the Point for a reason, the carry the left’s water in buckets, both hands. They’ll be the first to report that the victims were set upon because they used racial slurs.
“The Putzburgh Post Gazette is called Pravda at the Point for a reason, the carry the lefts water in buckets, both hands. Theyll be the first to report that the victims were set upon because they used racial slurs.”
Oh dear.
It was and still is a good school for the sons and daughters of blue collar people who may be the first of their family to atten college.
I don't think they can do that any more (tuition alone is about $25k) but the quality is well worth it.
This round of violence is very distubing and disheartening. I do not think it will continue without a backlash, given the ethnic makeup of the city.
I’m really surprised we haven’t had another “Bernie Goetz” event given the number of cases of black-on-white apparently racialist crime we have seen in the last few years.
This happened to my son (white) last year in downtown Morgantown, WV where he was a WVU student. He left a place where he had been playing pool and was walking to the garage where his truck was parked.
He was attacked by three black males. They beat him severely and took only his new cell phone.
His eyes were so injured and bleeding, he could barely see. He made it to an emergency phone and called for help.
The EMTs kept telling him he wasn’t hurt bad and didn’t need to go to the hospital. He insisted. The police didn’t want to take a report. He insisted. They refused to investigate even though my son says there are cameras at businesses on that street.
He was kept in the hospital almost a week and had to go every day for several days of outpatient treatment to make sure his eyes healed.
I don’t know what is going on, but I’ve read of many incidents just like this since he was attacked.
That’s awful!
My older daughter went to WVU, but that was 22 years ago.
The black community, if it does not control its rogue elements will experience some real hurt.
“Sometimes, Im surprised it hasnt started happening already, but a lot of people dont know.”
It’s “normalcy bias,” where people keep pretending things are okay even when there’s plenty of evidence to the contrary.
