The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows Mitt Romney attracting support from 49% of voters nationwide, while President Obama earns the vote from 47%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and two percent (2%) are undecided.
These results are based upon nightly interviews and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. As a result, todays update is the first based entirely upon interviews conducted after the first presidential debate last Wednesday night.
The numbers reflect a modest debate bounce for Romney. See daily tracking history. As with all bounces, it remains to be seen whether it is a temporary blip or signals a lasting change in the race.

Sounds like many aren’t buying the latest unemployment numbers.
However, the sample does include BOTH Friday and Saturday and historically (on Rasmussen AND other polls) Republicans poll about 2 points lower. Many reasons are assigned for that.
The Rasmussen poll on Thursday the 11th will be the FIRST post debate poll that will be done all on weekdays. It will also be a good poll to analyze as we will be able to see how permanent this “bounce” is for Team RR
It is my contention that Team RR is at 53 or 54% consistently but Republicans got EXCITED and maybe answered more phones after the debate victory. Till then the Republicans had been sulking and disheartened due to the constant “Obama will win in a landslide” drumbeat of the MSM
No champagne corks pop until it’s either a double-digit lead, or a DOP big wig flips out live on prime time TV. Other than that, wait until all the ballots are counted.
If you want an even better number, watch the Rasmussen poll on Friday the 12th.
It will have numbers from Tue, Wed and Thu. As Monday is a holiday for goverment workers (”Columbus messed up with directions Day”), the Dem sample will be higher on Monday
Also, the Friday sample will NOT have any interviews that will be POST the VP debate. So, it truly will the LAST sample that will show us the lasting BENEFIT of the Romney FIRST debate win.
Good point . . . and post-bogus jobs report. I would ad another point or two, maybe three. Keep in mind, too, that Rasmussen is sampling a lot more Dems than he used to. He uses a dynamic model (I think it is 21 days, and thus, pre-debate and post-Dem-convention) in which he relies on Party self-identification by those polled. It may be as high as Dem+6 at this point. That will gradually shift in our direction, too. Note too that Rasmussen gives Romney a 16 point advantage among independents. For now, Romney 49% to Obummer 47%? I’ll take it!
Ras polls are all now showing the “leaners.” Does this include a “certain to vote” element?
The polls are skewed to Obama. Romeny is ahead by more.
As this month goes on, Obama will get more desperate. There will be more lies and more desperate attempts to scare everyone about Romney. Their only strategy is to attack or distract from Obama’s failures.
I agree, but if people doubt these numbers, it give us a weapon. From what I’ve seen, Romney will do his research and have answers at the next debate.
Most probably, but fortune favors those who fight as if their back is against the wall. This is to the death and for the jugular.
Are the “Messiah’s” weekend bounces going away?

The goolfer needs a looong vacation
Good photoshop op to put a FR screen on the laptop.
Our back is still against the wall. These guys cheat; if things are within a couple of points they will fudge the results as they have in various close elections. In my home state, Washington they recounted three times in our governors race a few years ago, until they got the results they wanted. Most troubling currently... Obama is funneling 100s of millions of dollars of ill gotten “donations” (stashed stimulus dollars?) into negative ads in the swing states where according to Rasmussen he is still ahead 49% to 47%.
No further bounce for Romney in today’s numbers.
This is still going to be a dogfight right up until election day.
I am doubting all polls these days. I spent 2.5 hours making calls in VA for the Romney campaign yesterday and had only 5 people answer the phone. Every other call got an answering machine or the number was disconnected. Who are the pollsters talking to?
“No champagne corks pop until its either a double-digit lead, or a DOP big wig flips out live on prime time TV.”
Keep a close eye on Chrissy Matthews over on PMSNBC. When they come with the straight jacket, lead him off the set, and put him in a padded cell, we can all rest easy.
It will be like the inspector in the Pink Panther, screaming Clouseau, except it will be Mitt ! Mitt ! LOL !!!!
Rasmussen is apparently using D+3. Based on his monthly numbers, the electorate is at R+4. I expect somewhere between R+0 and R+3 for the election. That would put Romney up by 5 to 8 percent. The latest Rasmussen independent count was Romney +16.
You are right. I bet Romney is at least up another point or two since this is a weekend poll.
Modest bounce? From -3 to +2? With so few undecideds, that’s a huge bounce.
I dont know. Usually in presidential years, democraps have a slight advantage. I think a D+2 is probably more realistic.
Then Romney should lead by at least 5 by Wednesday.
“Note too that Rasmussen gives Romney a 16 point advantage among independents.”
Do you have a link to internals? I thought Ras had indies split at 47-47. If this is true then it would be practically impossible for Mitt to lose, especially if Ras uses the current GOP party ID advantage of 2.6 pts.
I find it distressing that conservatives are set to vote for a liberal just because he carries an “R” after his name
Vote for 0bama then LMAO. Problem solved.
You would prefer that we vote for the radical with a "D" after his name?
Is that what you want?
Sorry, didn’t read further down. Still, I don’t see the 16-pt advantage. It is interesting to see AA Romney support at 12% yet only 2% disapprove of BO’s performance. What gives?
But it’s more and more evidence to me that too many conservatives are reflexively voting for Republicans without question.
Just what we need. Another big government Republican
I love the reflexive, non thinking answer because I won’t vote for a liberal Republican that must mean I’m voting for BHO.
LOL!!! Nothing like letting the fingers type before the mind engages
If I might ask...
Who the hell do you think they should be voting for?
“Who the hell do you think they should be voting for?”
It’s none of my business who people should vote for. I’m just pointing out that Mitt is a liberal that too many conservatives are voting for simply because he’s a Republican.
There is no way conservatives would vote for him except for the party label with his record and past positions
Yeah, LMAO, I hear you. I wish Romney was more conservative, too. (I wanted Newt, with all my heart). But it just didn’t happen.
But I do believe Romney is a highly intelligent, good and decent man who does not hate America as Obama very obviously does. Romney is not going to “spread the wealth” or promote socialism openly. He’s for a strong military. I believe he’ll do the best job he can — I think he’s really eager to get to work to solve at least SOME of this country’s problems — and I don’t think we’re going to see him out golfing or playing basketball, wasting taxpayer dollars on trips to Spain and generally acting like a freaking CLASSLESS PUNK.
In the end, Americans need to solve these problems themselves, also. They need to get off their fat butts. They need to vote in conservative representatives, and then we can hold Rom’s feet to the fire.
May I ask again...?
Have you considered the alternative?
My surprise, and disappointment, is after the rise of the TEA Party we ended up with a nominee like Romney
On that, we can agree.
But Romney's who we've got. And, given the alternative, I would expect every conservative to be sensible enough to vote for Romney -- as opposed to making some futile gesture by voting for a third party candidate or sitting it out.
Obviously, you disagree. For reasons which escape me...
When you make calls for Romney, would my Caller ID identify the call as coming from Romney, etc., OR does it show Unknown Caller or a telephone number, or what? If I know that it IS a call from Romney, I WILL answer the call. Otherwise, I will ignore any calls that don’t identify themselves If I don’t recognize a phone number calling on my Caller ID, I will let it go to voice mail. Does anyone know if a call from Rasmussen identifies itself as coming from Rasmussen?
I expected a continued bounce after the debate. Maybe some polling data is yet to be analyzed.
Based on those internals Rasmussen is using a Dem +3 turnout model.
LOL!!! Nothing like letting the fingers type before the mind engages
Sorry. I'll have to disagree with you about who's mind is disengaged and not thinking.
A vote for anyone else, is a vote for 0bama. I challenge you to think about that. I doubt you will though, as I think you are just here to try to spread discontent. I don't recall seeing you here in the 9 years I've been a member of FR.
So what does that have anything to do with the fact that people like you are voting for a liberal just because he's a Republican.
So you oppose ObamaCare but are voting for the guy who takes it as a compliment that he is referred to as the grandfather of Obamacare?? ROFLMAO!!!!
I would suggest you look at Romney's record as gov. There is no way you or any self proclaimed conservative would vote for a Democrat if he/she had that record but since Romney is a Republican, it's all good, right?
The last time I got a call from there it was to ask me to work on Saturday and my caller id showed ‘000-000-0000’. I didn’t answer. They left a message on VM.
see post #47. Somehow I posted it to softwareengineer by mistake.
Do you not understand that Romney’s healthcare plan is a STATE issue, not federal?
I still think you’re some sort of concern troll. Enjoy your ‘purity’ while enabling 0bama.
It’s quite a bit better than a socialist government don’t you agree? Or do you enjoy having all of your money taken and given to someone else? Obviously you don’t have any of your adult children living with you because they can’t find a full time job to support themselves? I do... Now you can vote for who ever you want, but we have two candidates. They can’t be changed now.
