First, I don't know where to even send a suggestion like this. Any ideas?
The ad:
Big Bird walks past people protesting Romney's claim that PBS funding should be cut. Signs argue that without public funding, American children wouldn't experience Sesame Street.
He goes into a parking deck, where he gets in a red Ferrari. As the engine roars, titles overlaying the screen would read: "Sesame Street receives [however much funding] a year from the federal government. In that same time, Sesame Street makes more than $50 million in toys and consumer sales."
They could add a guy working in the ticket booth of the parking deck who lost his job and is underemployed. Possibly add something at the end like "Big Bird is ready to leave the government nest."
So true. But you couldn’t get the Sesame Street license to show big bird.
The reason big bird was on SNL last night was they must have begged and paid. And big bird himself (Carroll spinney) was completely apolitical and sweet, so that if a child were watching or saw a clip later, big bird was perfectly positive and child friendly.
Ever since it’s inception, Sesame Street is just about the only thing to come out of public broadcasting that consistently turns a sizeable profit. And yet, more often than not, you turn on a PBS station, and there they are, with the phone banks “passing the hat” around. Not too unlike the gov’t subsidized professional panhandlers in the subway.
I prefer to see Big Bird as a welfare collecting mooch.
Plus, they have a constant parade of pinkos as guests.
Good point. If they couldn’t show him, they could shoot “around” him. So the camera would be behind him, but all you’d see would be fluffy yellow feathers, fuzzy orange feet, etc.
A bunch of housewives could do a better job than the professional congresscritters are!
The video is on YouTube at http://bit.ly/BigBirdOnePercenter

Didn’t stop MadTV from doing a parody of Sesame Street with Big Bird.
