Enter At Your Own Risk: Police Union Says ‘War-Like’ Detroit Is Unsafe For Visitors
Detroit.CBS Local ^ | October 6, 2012

The men and women of the Detroit Police Department believe the city is too dangerous to enter, and they want citizens to know it.

Detroit Police Officer Association (DPOA) Attorney Donato Iorio said officers are holding the “Enter At Your Own Risk” rally at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in front of Comerica Park to remind the public that the officers are overworked, understaffed, and at times, fearful for their lives.

Looks like Detroit's remaining $500 in annual tourist revenue is in serious jeopardy now.

I thought St Louis was the most violent city. Looks like all major US cities run by democrats are dangerous.

Wouldn’t it be nice if someone running against Democrats were to bring stuff like this to the table? Point to their record?

As Glen Beck described the Cloward/Piven strategy for totalitarian government: bottom up, top down. Take over the middle. Create violence and upheaval so bad from the bottom that the people in the middle demand that the government come in and restore military style order. The government finally obliges (from the top) and ends up controlling the middle, and the bottom, and everything else. People in the middle wake up one day under a totalitarian regime and wonder how it happened.

40 years ago it was similar. People needed to carry just to stay alive in certain parts of the city. Police never issued a warning then because they were getting paid good salaries to sit in donut shops. Today, because their numbers are falling, they pretend to care about potential victims. Detroit has been a disaster for a long time. The liberals and blacks took over and made it that way. Best to stay away if possible, even if the police get new hires or raises in pay to keep their mouths shut.

Don’t buy the union blackmail line. That’s all this is. Why do you think they chose the playoff opener for their tantrum.

In reality Detroit is far safe than any number of cities due to one fact. Armed citizens.

Sadly, over the past few years Detroit residents have been so demoralized they haven’t been able to muster the energy to burn down their city on Halloween, as they used to do in happier times.

Detroit has also experienced riots when one of their sports teams has won a championship — which Detroit’s baseball team is threatening to do this year. A World Series victory might be just the thing to bring Detroiters out of their torpor, while also helping to solve the problem of Detroit’s overworked wrecking companies, which can’t keep up with demand.

In most parts of the country I'd probably find that fact comforting. After a couple of visits to the city I don't consider Detroit to be one of them.

In all seriousness, I think that they should cancel the law against murder within Detroit city limits.

Pretty sure the problem would be resolved within a month.

And so, when GPS map makers want to include the ability to avoid dangerous areas, they are called racist. In other words, it’s better for innocent lost normal people to be trapped in a ghetto and be attacked, robbed and killed than for someone to feel offended.

The Detroit of my youth used to be a nice place. JL Hudson Thanksgiving Parade, the JL Hudson Christmas Toy Land with Santa, the window animation Christmas displays at Hudson, all the stores and movie houses on Woodward Ave, etc.

50 years of LibTurd RAT rule has made it this mess

Part of the problem is that justified homicide is counted as murder for statistical purposes when its generally a kill in self defense. The old folks in Detroit are racking up quite a toll these days.

Yes.

Just look at our troops, they can’t shoot at night even if they see someone planting IED’s because it might disturb and upset the locals.

Feelings are now more important than life.

If they really wanted to increase tourism and clean up the city, they’d let gun owners go on ‘safari’ and thin out the gangsters and other bad elements.

“I thought St Louis was the most violent city. Looks like all major US cities run by democrats are dangerous.”

Stop dancing around the truth.

Cities like Bennington and Burlington, Vermont are run entirely by democrats and have been so for years, but they are as safe or safer than where you live.

The cities you refer to are “dangerous” because of something other than “democrats”.
