Obama Jokes About His Debate Performance at Hollywood Fundraiser
NewsBusters.org ^ | October 7, 2012 | Noel Sheppard

President Obama made a joke about his debate performance at Sunday's lavish, $25,000 per person fundraiser at Hollywood's Nokia Theater.

After noting the event's musical acts such as Jennifer Hudson, Jon Bon Jovi, Katy Perry, and Stevie Wonder "perform flawlessly night after night," Obama quipped to laughter and applause, "I can’t always say the same."

Some additional highlights from the transcript obtained by Fox News's Greta Van Susteren included:

BARACK OBAMA: The last thing we can afford right now is four years of the very same policies that led us to this crisis in the first place. I cannot allow that to happen. I will not let it happen. That’s why I am running for a second term for President of the United States, and that’s why I need your help. (Applause.)

I have seen too much pain and too much struggle to let this country go through another round of top-down economics. One of the main reasons we had this crisis in the first place is because we had big banks on Wall Street that were allowed to make big bets with other people’s money on the line. And now, Governor Romney wants to roll back the rules so we go back to that behavior? Not if I have anything to say about it.

One of the main reasons we went from record surpluses under Bill Clinton to record deficits under George Bush is because we put two wars and two tax cuts on a credit card. And now, Governor Romney wants another $5 trillion in tax cuts that he can’t pay for? Not if I’ve got anything to say about it. (Applause.)

Obviously, the Governor knows his $5 trillion isn’t too popular, so a few weeks before this election he’s trying to pretend it doesn’t exist, because that’s a lot easier than trying to explain how he’d pay for it without asking middle-class families to pick up the tab. The other night he ruled out asking millionaires and billionaires to pay even a dime more in taxes to help us bring down our deficit. Not a dime. When he was asked what he’d actually do to cut spending, he said he’d go after public television. So for all you moms and kids out there, don’t worry, somebody is finally cracking down on Big Bird — cracking down on him. (Laughter.) Elmo has made a run for the border.

Governor Romney plans to let Wall Street run wild again, but he’s bringing the hammer down on Sesame Street. (Laughter.)

People are unemployed all over the U.S.A. . The media however creates an alternate false reality where everything is fine.

Romney did great in the debate. Romney destroyed the marxist POS Obama. First time we see the real Romney and the Real Obama and some of the real situation in the U.S..

I would have told Obama, “Apologize now to the American people for ruining the American dream, Destroying the greatest country in the world, with 6 trillion in debt , lowest workforce participation in history and with your socialist policies that you are forcing on the American people which the media hides.” Apologize and resign or tell us how 6 trillion that you added in debt to U.S. will not destroy this country, 6 trillion in debt that you gave to your campaign donors like Solyndra, etc.” Resign now for your going around Congress, abusing power when decreeing Amnesty for illegals , a million of them to take more jobs away from Americans. I call on Congress now to impeach Obama for abusing power with these zcars, with Solyndra, with passing the Dream act by himself without Congress, fas and furious” Hope Romney hits this POS Obama with that

Romney destroyed that pos Obama in the first debate :If it were a football game it would have been Romney 76 Obama 0

Where’s the joke about his debate performance?

He’s reading the same talking points that he read off the teleprompter the morning after the debate.

These kinds of sophomoric antics are why Americans need to throw him out on his ass in November.

Yes, they do, because they have not matured either mentally or emotionally beyond Junior High.

Right. Because all this isn’t about The American people. It’s all about him. His ego, his power, him winning. Like a game that he has to win.

I could not agree more.

No doubt we will hear say exactly the same thing when he campaigns for his third term

Obama’s first stop Sunday, at a private residence, is a little unusual. He was scheduled to join former President Bill Clinton to meet with a small group of high-dollar donors who have “maxed out” on their contributions. The event was closed to the press and Psaki, as is usual practice, would not disclose names.

“It’s a thank you event for a small group of donors,” she said.

Before the musical fundraiser Obama attended an event at the home of DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg, a high-profile Democratic supporter. Ex president Bill Clinton was also present, with some 12 people.

Afterwards he headed for a fundraising dinner at the WP24 restaurant run by Austrian chef-to-the-stars Wolfgang Puck, attended by some 150 guests paying $25,000 (roughly over $2 million) each.

President Obama’s record $15 million fundraiser tonight at the home of actor George Clooney is being co-hosted by DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. In addition to being the largest single donor to the pro-Obama Super PAC Priorities USA at $2 million, Katzenberg’s company is currently under investigation by the SEC for allegedly bribing Chinese officials.

The SEC investigation comes just weeks after Katzenberg announced this February that DreamWorks had struck a $2 billion deal to open a studio in Shanghai under the Oriental Dreamworks brand. The China deal was inked in a ceremony that featured Katzenberg alongside Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, who stopped off in Los Angeles in February on his way back to China after a series of high-level meetings at the White House, including meetings with Obama.

Katzenberg joined Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Chinese vice president for a meeting that led to the DreamWorks deal. In an interview with the Financial Times, Katzenberg said the deal required Xi’s personal approval in order to move forward.

The SEC investigation seeks to determine whether DreamWorks made illegal payments to Chinese officials in order to obtain the right to produce and distribute their films in the country. While DreamWorks has denied White House involvement in facilitating the deal, reports have confirmed that Biden and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk were personally involved in a parallel negotiation with the Chinese government to increase the number of films that Hollywood studios could release in China’s tightly controlled and censored domestic film market.

I see the Kenyan scumbag is back to lying about Mitt Romney’s 5 trillion tax cut. Even after Mitt refuted this at the debate. Even after Stephanie Cutter on CNN was forced to admit this was not true. In fact Mitt’s plan would *also* close so many loopholes (used mostly by the rich) this 5 trillion shrinks down to a billion or less of a tax cut

Democrats are shameless liars.

Yes people, President Obama writes my TV campaign ads for me, and yes, both of us agree that " “The last thing we can afford right now is four years of the very same policies that led us to this crisis in the first place by the Obama Administration " ......

Mitt Romney : 2012, when the TV ads are almost to easy to write...

Actually, you can always tell when arrogant, egotistical, narcissistic, corrupt and power hungry Democrat politicians are in really, really seriously bad trouble, as anyone who was around in the mid to late 90’s can attest to.

If it's criminal they plead to stupidity and incompetence, if it's political they joke about themselves and make light of the issue.

Self depreciation is the last refuge of a scumbag Democrat Politician. And it's not sincere, you can trust me on that

When is someone going to look this ahole in the eye and tell him:

“Stop whining about the crisis you “inherited”. The last thing we can afford right now is four more years of the very same policies that have failed utterly and completely for the past four years.”
