Skip to comments.AARP Stands by as Obama Gets Mugged by Reality

During last week's presidential debate, realizing that he was taking a beating on the Medicare solvency issue, Barack Obama issued the following cri de coeur: "AARP thinks that the savings that we obtained from Medicare bolster the system, lengthen the Medicare trust fund by eight years." Later, after enduring several more blows to his credibility, the President went on to claim AARP agreed with him that Romney's plan would weaken Medicare. Oddly, the "senior advocacy organization" took offense at these remarks. Having provided full-throated support to the President and the Democrats on Obamacare, and resisted Medicare reform, AARP has begun to revert to its nonpartisan pose now that Obama appears to be in trouble.
On Thursday, AARP issued this statement: "AARP has never consented to the use of its name by any candidate or political campaign. AARP is a nonpartisan organization and we do not endorse political candidates nor coordinate with any candidate or political party." The hypocrisy of this statement is breathtaking. AARP actively supported Obama and congressional Democrats on Obamacare knowing full well that it would cut Medicare Advantage (MA), an enormously popular program among seniors, by $200 billion. This obvious betrayal of its members was driven by the knowledge that these MA cuts would force millions of seniors back to traditional Medicare and create a captive market for AARP's "Medigap" policies......................
................If Obama and the Democrats continue to be mugged by the ugly realities they have created, we'll hear more from AARP about nonpartisanship and to see its leadership stand idly by as their erstwhile friends endure the beating. But it's probably too late. If the GOP gains control of the White House and the Senate, the AARP will lose its cash cow after a well-deserved roughing up.

Rats on a sinking ship.
AMAC is the conservative alternative to AARP...Go to amac.us and Freep this poll...
“AMAC is concerned about the potential threat posed by extremist Islamic organizations and their front groups, such as the Muslim Brotherhood- should we:”
AARP should disclose how much premium money obamacare will net them.
AARP-OBAMACARE goes directly in the trash. I have no use for their partisan ways.
AARP is a nonpartisan organization and we do not endorse political candidates nor coordinate with any candidate or political party.” The hypocrisy of this statement
need we say more, billions are invested in the empty chair
Isn’t AARP going to profit by the $Billions from the healthcare insurance policy millions of seniors would be shepherded into?
I send back AARP mailings with a lot of trash enclosed and a note with a black magic marker that can’t be missed:
I don’t deal with Communist loving traitors. Go to He##.
Oh, pish-posh, AARP isn’t partisan. Just like the League of Women Voters isn’t partisan. Why, you guys probably think Unions are biased too.
Ha, ha I even heard people thought Andrea Mitchell from NBC was a hack partisan. People are even going so far as to say Soledad O’Brien actively supports Obama.
My lovely lady mails their postage paid envelopes back to them empty. LOL
I do this all the time....and it's one of the few evil pleasures I indulge in regularly.
I consider it a public service.
AARP is a nonpartisan organization and we do not endorse political candidates nor coordinate with any candidate or political party
Just because we supported Obamacare and all the wonderful things coming out of Obamas White House. We would never use our national platform to endorse Obama or that other guy that wants seniors to starve in the streets..
I distinctly remember AARP putting itself squarely into the ring when the Obamacare debate was going on. They also took credit for helping fashion the law and how it was going to help seniors.
Maybe Rick Hendrick and Jeff Gordon will reconsider taking money from them for their new sponsorship deal which was just inked once this scandal is revealed to show the utter hypocrisy of this tool organization.
“I send back AARP mailings...”
I used to send AARP mailings back, but don’t anymore.
I’m guessing it was the VERY nasty, VERY graphic personal notes I included in their prepaid business-reply envelopes.
Or maybe it was the word “TRAITOR” I’d write on the outside of the envelope.
At any rate, I seem to have fallen off of their mailing list. What a shame...
Dear AARP: It sucks waking up with fleas, doesn’t it?
So obumblingidiot is quoting AARP as a source to prove obamacare won’t hurt Medicare..?
Uhhhhh I thought we taxpayers were paying economists and the like to check those things out.
It’s unbelievable. Did they not prepare Onoimlosing at all??!!
