President Obama had a terrible debate last week. Supporters and opponents were shocked that he could be so off his game. They shouldn't have been. That they were indicates that they don't understand Obama's serious, likely insurmountable re-election problem.
Obama supporters and detractors expect the old Obama to show better form in the next debate. But that is not going to happen! It cannot, because Obama's critical problem is not correctable.
Obama's Real Problem
The media seemed more surprised by Obama's performance than Romney's. It was Romney who was the surprise and exposed Obama's Achilles heel. Daniel Henninger observed (my emphasis added):
... no one expected or predicted that Barack Obama could be so pushed off his game or look so flustered in a contest of articulating ideas.Obama's problem, to put it politely, is his looseness with facts. Nuvigil's side effects include "frenzied, abnormally excited mood; hallucinating (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist); anxiety; depression; thinking about killing or harming yourself". Oh, yes, Obama on Nuvigil in a stressful situation would potentially be FUN to watch!
remember the next debate is in NY (I think) and Gallop (I believe) will “PICK” the undecided voters to ask question.....as the whole debate will be questions from people.....I smell a set up here..........
One of the most important things we can do here in the Heartland is to watch and record these upcoming debates. Especially we must identify the persons asking questions in the Town Hall format. As we have seen in the past few years the Democrats are not at all shy about putting their own people in to ask embarrassing questions. We on the other hand can turn that around on them and identify any party hacks that get infiltrated and set up as “unbiased” questioners.
Basically, what you’re saying is that Obama won’t say anything intelligent, but he’ll say it a lot faster.

I wish I had an old suit to sit out in my empty chair to show how Obama is an empty suit. All academic verbage and hypothicals that he wants to apply to reality because true substance means people actually have to work and save rather then have things hand by an overlord government which is how Obama came to be who and what he is.

We must unleash the power of the private sector in order to create opportunity for self reliance. Mr Obama will continue to expand the reach and cost of the public sector government bureaucracies. All well intentioned government programs with nice sounding names.
But the reality is that government can never provide the quality of life that a free man or woman acting in his/her own best interests will provide for themselves. Unless of course you hold one of those government jobs. The unspoken truth is that when it comes right down to it...government does of great job of taking care of government, but a very poor job of taking care of people.
Your choice is to be a servant of government, dependent on a government agency, or will you be an agent of your own destiny, capitalizing on the opportunities available in a free America where you can rise to any height unfettered by a domineering government class that is addicted to the fruits of your labor.

I don’t recall the 08 campaign as I have blocked that love fest out of my mind. What happened during the debates of the campaign. Was he as bad as this past debate? If so, I don’t think it will matter.
Man, talk about an opening line that Romney should start with, "Mr President, this election represents the judgement of history, and I am hear to give an accounting of what you have done..."
followed up with a truthful telling of obama's record. He would be so thrown off his game plan, that he wouldn't be able to recover.
I'm not so sure. 0bama will have advance copies of the questions and will have polished responses to each. That's the advantage of having left moderators.

Depends on the dosage. I haven’t seen any untoward side effects in people taking Nuvigil other than inability to fall asleep. It basically decreases general tiredness. You seem more awake, more alert. I suspect he’ll be on it and it will at the very least help to erase his first performance. I wonder if ANY ‘jour no-lista’ has the balls or ovaries to ask the question and find out if he took any neurological enhancement drug before the debate. Who am I kidding. Obama’s failure in the debate was the fault of the news media. Because they have shielded and protected him all during his political career, he has never had to explain anything or defend himself. He only appears on talk shows that throw him softballs. Reporters never ask him probing questions. The debate was the first time he has had to face the real world.

My little fantasy of what I would like to see Romney do in the next debate is challenge Obama - ask him point blank if Obama believes he - Romney - is a liar. Ask him “Mr. President, your campaign staff and supporters have come out since the last debate and called me a liar. Do you sir think I am a liar?” If Obama stammers that some of Romney’s position is stretching the truth, Romney should ask him to be specific. Which positions? Put Obama on the defense. Again, just my little fantasy.

He absolutely NEEDS the teleprompter and can NOT think on his feet or talk intelligently without it.
This is where the ‘47%’question will come up...and Obama will be ready with his snarky response and part of the crowd will cheer and the press will declare him the winner on that moment...So Romney better be ready for it and have a sharp reply.
I expect the next debates to be pretty rigged (advance copy of the questions, a moderator more "in tune" with his way of operating, etc.).
