A wireless company profiting from the so-called Obama phone giveaway program is run by a prominent Democratic donor whose wife has raised more than $1.5 million for the president since 2007.
Last week a video of a President Barack Obama supporter in Ohio claiming to have received a free phone from the president[Obama] gave us a phone!went viral, prompting media outlets to investigate.
Since 1985 the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has operated a program called Lifeline, originally designed to provide free landline phone service for low-income individuals. The government subsidizes telecommunications firms providing the service, and those firms also pass on costs to customers via the Universal Service Charge on their phone bills.

This is what I assumed the moment I first learned of the "Obamaphone"...

Of course it is ... that grifter is gonna make sure that ANY money that is “re-distributed” goes to his friends (and that some of it comes to him)
My thought was that the phones were used to call the people on election day and guilt trip them into getting on the bus to the polls with all their “friends”.
Apparently there are many upsides to the rats from this “unfair” redistribution program.

I also thought there was probably going to be a little something going on for some FOO (Friend Of Obama’s).
How much corruption can one country stand? Are we trying for the world record?
Hey, I listened/watched that video of that missing link in human evolution and she never said Obama gave her a phone.
He gave her a fo. Whatever the hell a fo is.
I know dems don’t want an informed voter but jeeezzz at least learn to speak.
I bet that woman also has a daughter named La-a (for white folks that’s Ladasha the “-” doh be silent doh you know)
F this. I am getting rid of cell phones. Everybody follow me.
I’m heading that way as well.
big surprise.... all the big donors work that way....
they want favors.

“Whatever the hell a fo is.”
“Fo” is used by some foaks to help them will spelling the more complicated words, such as.... sellphone, fosale fo mo money and what the fo is going on??
Dats Fo sho
Non-melanin-identifying 0bama supporters don’t like to acknowledge that they are of the same ilk as “the 0bamaphone gal”, but they are. They are of the same emotional maturity level as she is.
I am not kidding - lived most of my live just fine without a cell phone...I hardly talk on it, or text message/email with it — will miss the internet connection but the laptop can handle that fine.
So are we paying extra to the ISPs to give “free” internet to moochers as well?
GM will be the first car co. to offer the “free” automobile, right?
I find this part of the article quite interesting:
” TracFone, which did not return a request for comment, is the U.S. affiliate of America Movil, one of the largest phone service providers in Latin America.
America Movil is one of many business ventures controlled by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, currently the worlds richest man, according to Forbes. Slims stake in the firm accounts for more than half of his $70 billion net worth.
Slimwho bailed out the New York Times and is often referred to as Mexicos Mr. Monopolyhas visited the White House at least twice, according to visitor logs.”
I knew Carlos Slim was the wealthiest man in Mexico, but wasn’t aware he was the wealthiest man in the World. Makes me wonder with all that Moolah, 70 Bln. dollars just how much influence Mr. Slim has on our open borders policy. Wondering if Mr. Slim is involved in other matters unsaid.
HELP NEEDED
Well there goes my TracFone but I need help finding an alternative. Don’t use a cell much, definitely don’t text or tweet.
well, my landline phone bill is $7.00 bigger than it was last year. 40% of the bill is surcharges and taxes.
I don't understand your logic here, kindly explain?
My husband has a cell phone plan that costs us $50 bucks
a month. 2 cells phones flip type nothing fancy. I used
9 minutes last month. I just have no reason to have that
thing glued to my ear or thumbs like most of the people
I see under 40 these days. What is so important that they
have to be on phone or tweet 90% of waking hours?
I agree with you, but having one for emergency purposes is a good idea in my book.
Ever heard of MagicJack? I pay $21.90 a year and that included local and long distance calls
yo benita! why you be finnit to ax me dat? yo mama gib me a fo!
The modern purpose of taxes is to milk the taxpayer to pay for your election.
Slim made his money the old-fashioned way in the 3rd world - government imposed monopoly. This is the problem with wealthy 3rd worlders. They’re not self-made in an American way.
I’m one of the many senior citizens who carry a cell phone only for emergencies. I don’t stand in the cereal aisle at the supermarket and shout questions into a phone to my wife at home, such as “Do we like the honey-nut Cheerios or the plain?”
Since I use only 5 or 10 minutes a month, an expensive monthly plan makes no sense for me. I was happy to find Tracfone, which fit my needs perfectly.
However, now I have learned that I’ve been giving aid and comfort to the enemy. If I were Japanese, I’d be reading “Hari-Kari for Dummies” in order to learn the most painful method to disembowel myself. But, since I’m of the Caucasian persuasion, I will merely dump the Tracfone (when my minutes run out—I’ve already paid for them) and seek a reasonable alternative. Maybe I can tie a long string between two cans, in case I have a serious question for my wife while purchasing Corn Flakes.
I have net 10 but I found out that is a subsidiary of Tracphone. Hmmm looking into maybe AT&T $50 a month?
That would mean that my 2 calls a month ("Sorry, I'll be a few minutes late--I'm stuck in traffic," and "Our plane just landed--meet us at baggage claim.") would cost 25 bucks apiece.
Thanks for your post. Let me know if you find a suitable phone.
