Update 10:50 p.m.: According to the Associated Press, Venezuelas electoral council has declared that Hugo Chavez beat Henriques Capriles in Sundays presidential election with about 54 percent of the vote, despite exit polls showing otherwise.
Venezuela Twitter users have claimed Chavezs victory was wrought with election fraud, and that the socialist incumbent president sent tanks into the streets of his country as those exit poll reports showed him losing. A picture of the tanks surfaced on Twitter Sunday evening.
The British Guardian newspaper reported that Chavez also sent troops armed with AK-47s into Venezuelas streets to fight against any protests in case unrest came as a result of the news.
A Spanish news outlet reported earlier on Sunday that exit polls showed Capriles defeated the socialist president by a narrow margin.

An excellent example of why we must have a Second Amendment.
Also a good example of how “the results conflict with the exit polls” might be used to monkey with the outcome here.
We are about a month away from this.
The only losers were his opponent,Henrique Capriles, anyone who thought their voted counted and thought this was a free fair election
nothing quite says socialist election victory, like “tanks in the streets”.,
I am hesitant to call the exit po;; results good or fraudulent after John Kerry lost by over 120,000 in Ohio despite what the exit polls said.
Quick. Send Jimmy Carter in.
Does anyone think this election was legitimate??
This electronic voting stuff has got to go. So easy to forge a victory.
“We are about a month away from this.”
I think so, too.
"Another fine election, Comrade Hugo.
I keep telling Barack he needs you on his reelection team."
Not directly over the election.
0bama won’t steal the election and then put tanks in the streets.
What might happen, though, is that his zombie army might mobilize after he loses, and the tanks will be ordered out to keep the non-zombies from defending themselves.
True. But I think a lot of people are really grasping the idea that bad guys are running the place and the government employees are there to prevent the good guys from defending their families and their property. The time may come when the government employees and the zombies are all seen as part of one big gang, and it will be open season on them all.
Did anybody seriously think Hugo was going to say, “Well, looks like I lost, bye!”?
The kenyan has resembled Chavez more than most other national figures. I expect something untoward after the election, especially if the voting and the count are obviously monkeyed with.

Perhaps more than we know:
The U.S. is looking into the takeover of a voting-systems manufacturer by a small company with ties to Hugo Chávez’s leftist government.
The federal government is investigating the takeover last year of a leading U.S. manufacturer of electronic voting systems by a small software company that has been linked to the leftist government of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez.
The same people that will count ours?
This will be a very interesting election.
As I said before, I survived Vietnam, but I still might get the chance to die for my country.
Hugo Chavez is president for life and has been president for life since the day he gave his inaugural address in 1999.
There is only one way he is leaving office, and that is the moment he stops breathing. It is up to the Venezuelans to decide what to do about that. He isn’t leaving alive.
This is for lurkers. I’m sure all of us here have heard it before:
“Those who cast the votes decide nothing.
Those who count the votes decide everything.”
All we want is a clean election.
Guys like Stalin, Chavez and Obama just want to win, hook or crook.
the poll watchers also need tanks.
BBC World Service was bowing and scraping to congratulate Chavez on the continuation of the Bolivarian Revolution.
It doesn’t matter how you vote
Elections are controlled by those who count the votes !
An organization partially owned by Soros will count the votes
We will see what happens in a month
Don’t be surprised if militia and tanks are involved
Commming to a voting precinct near you !
Tanks in the streets. Perhaps they’ll be headed here next month....
Of course the 2nd Amendment is the reason that the government has acquired a Billion+ hollow point bullets. If they kill enough patriots, the rest will fall in line.
No Tanks ... please.
Coming soon to a street near you.
Maybe, but I wonder how many Americans would resist even a blatant rigging of the election or would say lets file a lawsuit (which would die in a corrupt or intimidated legal system)?
You read my mind. I’ve been making this point repeatedly.
Obama really does want to destroy the country. Blantantly, obviously, unquestionably stealing the election would have one of two effects:
1) GOP would silently acquiesce and Obama gets his second 4 years.
2) There is a hot civil war and citizens rise up to fight the coup.
I believe Obama would be quite pleased with either situation, and I do not think there is a third option that would result from Obama blatantly stealing the election. You see, he doesn’t really need 4 more years to destroy us — a bloody civil war would do the job real quick.
Tanks in the streets for what? To protect what? Shop owners from burning their own shops? Ridiculous absurdity of socialism at work for you.
It's Chavez's way of saying: "tanks for all the votes".
