US-Taliban talks collapsed over Guantánamo deal, says official
The Guardian ^ | Oct. 8, 2012 | By Julian Borger

Peace talks between the US and the Taliban broke down in March mainly because the Afghan insurgents refused to agree to a deal by which guerrilla commanders released from Guantánamo Bay would remain under Qatari government supervision in Doha, a senior US administration official said.

------------------------------snip------------------------

The collapse has been widely blamed on resistance in the US Congress and the Pentagon to allowing any Taliban prisoners to be released or transferred from Guantánamo. However, a senior administration official insisted the Obama administration had been ready to transfer the five prisoners to Qatar had the Taliban agreed to the conditions in Doha. The transfer would have required a "certification" from the defence secretary, Leon Panetta, guaranteeing to Congress that the Guantánamo inmates would not re-enter the fight against US troops. . .

Apparently these are the "moderate" Taliban the White House always talks about.

Speaking of Qatar...remember that weird vacation Michelle Obama took? Shakedown artist Jesse Jackson happened to be in Marbella at the same time, too. al-Thani is the guy who was under invatigation in Qatar for misuse of public funds.

Several Arab royal families also spend their summers in Marbella for many years. Thus, there will be a meeting between Michelle Obama and Prince Salman bin Abdul Aziz, governor of Riyadh and brother of the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, while another meeting is shuffled from the first lady with the owner of Málaga CF, billionaire businessman, son of Qatar's Interior Minister and member of the Qatari royal family, Abdullah Al Thani.-----El Mundo

And speaking of Al Thani.... note Obama's debate coach John Kerry met him :

FEBRUARY 2010 : (JOHN KERRY MEETS WITH QATAR'S LEADER HAMAD BIN KHALIFA AL-THANI, PRAISES PLO/FATAH TERRORIST LEADER YASSER ARAFAT AS A STATESMAN & PEACEMAKER--------See 201011 WIKILEAKS, OSLO ACCORDS, [also see robert baer]) ... ------- "Kerry cites Yasser Arafat as prime example of peacemaker," WND ^ | NOVEMBER 30, 2010 | Aaron Klein Posted on Wednesday, December 01, 2010 2:20:10 AM by RobinMasters

From what I've heard Al Thani was known for funding al Qaeda's chief before he was chief- Zarqawi, but don't take my word for it as I don't have the source for that at the moment.

Why are we even talking to these terrorist rags? Herd them all to the meeting room and fire on all of them.

So, could Al Thani be the bag man through which powerful Arabs grease the palms of American politicians?

Anyone who thinks the Taliban would ever keep an agreement is an idiot.

The US Congress has helped Obama/Clinton work
with al Qaeda to attack the USA on 9/11 this year.

The American people ought remember that in four weeks.

And then indict them all.

Here's the Admin again, tripping over themselves to surrender!

Gawds it's frightening when I wonder what they're 'negotiating' around the world to the detriment of America!

Godspeed

If these “guerrilla commanders” were dead, this wouldn’t even be an issue.

“Leon Panetta, guaranteeing to Congress that the Guantánamo inmates would not re-enter the fight against US troops. . .”

And would he be willing to guarantee that, let’s say, with his own life? If one of these fighters is involved in terrorism, planning, or execution, will you Mr. Panetta, take their place in Guantonamo?

Why are there ANY talks with the Taliban? They can’t be trusted anymore than the imposter in the White Mosque.
