Wake Up Media, the BLS Has Been Fudging Its (Unemployment) Numbers for YEARS

Pop Quiz…

How does the US economy add 800K+ jobs during a month in which employment taxes and consumer spending FALL?

Answer: magic! Or actually the BLS [Bureau of Labor Statistics] lied... again.

It’s truly staggering to see this brazen a lie out in the public. Even by the BLS’s standards (which has been massaging the hell out of its jobs data for years) this latest monthly employment number was a stretch.

Of course, no one bothers explaining just how fraudulent the data was, because that would mean questioning the credibility of the BLS. Instead the whole issue becomes one of politics in which the talking head idiots spar about nothing of import, in yet another attempt to distract the masses from the fact that the Government openly lies about inflation, employment, GDP data and just about everything else.

Pop Quiz #2: How many media talking heads even read a BLS announcement before forming an opinion of it?

Answer: Reading requires actual thought. It’s better to just spout an opinion without facts. That way you’re never wrong because… you’re just stating your opinion!

At some point one would think that participants in a Democracy would call the Government to account for the fact that the powers that be repeatedly urinate in our faces and tell us it’s raining… but one would of course be greatly overestimating just how little people actually care about anything that matters.

For those of us who actually enjoy thinking… let’s extend this inquiry. In the last year, we’ve seen the Obama administration ask Russia to delay its missile shield proposal until after the November election. We’ve also seen it ask Europe to hold things together until after the election. Heck it’s even asked the military to delay firing people until after the election.

Just what is being promised in exchange for this? We’ve already seen QE 3 announced which is a clear quid pro quo for the EU’s help in maintaining things until after November. What else is coming down the pike? What other promises and back-scratches will we be giving the Russians and the EU?

I don’t have an answer for this. But I know it’s not anything any of us will actually have voted for. Just like TARP and ObamaCare, which the majority of Americans didn’t want, whatever is dished out to others to help keep things calm until after November won’t be anything we have any say in.

And rest assured, we’ll all be worse off for it.

Thanks in part to some fellow Freepers, I have been doing some research on the evolution of these government generated statistics. I originally started with how inflation was calculated and have stumbled into everything from unemployment calculations to the GDP calculations.

I have never been a conspiracy theorist. But if you had started planning a slow sinking of the US via bad data starting in the 1980’s fudging these numbers is a good start.

One startling discovery in my research so far? Newt Gengrich orchestrated one of the inflation calculation changes in order to affect Social Security payouts over the long haul. It was part of the social security fix (temporary) that was passed under Reagan. Another evolution of the inflation calculation now causes GDP to be overstated while understating the rate of inflation.

Most here know how the unemployment numbers are fixed and why those calculations have been changed.

It’s fascinating. I may post my findings when I’m finished here on FR for feedback and editing. My goal is to put it in simple terms so that even liberals might be able to follow it.

I’m not a statistician. But it seems to me that repeated revisions of the jobs number *in the same direction* month after month is prima facie evidence of either a) a bad predictive model in the first place, or b) data being deliberately manipulated.

Stastically, shouldn’t honest revisions go half one way and half the other?

Wake Up?

They are awake. Awake but biased, not honest, and guilty of Journalistic Malpractice.

The real story is the “new normal”.
In the past, 5% unemployment would be considered a tragic failure of incredible ineptitude.
The “NEW NORMAL” of 8% was sold to us a soon as the Idiot was sworn in.
The “NEW NORMAL” is the adjustment made by AFFIRMATIVE ACTION METRICS.
Just as entry criteria, or employment requirements are routinely adjusted by affirmative action metrics, meaning people of certain races are allowed lower scores or less experience, the bar has been set lower for this fool simply because of race, and for no other reason.

The Des Moines Register editorialized that it was impossible to “cook the books” on the jobs data. How many times have these statistics been “revised” ?

This is based on a telephone survey of I think 60,000 households. They can ask questions differently and change the definition of “work”. Rick Santelli even suggested this may be the case.

...the BLS [Bureau of Labor Statistics] lied... again.

The New York Times finds ANY lie - no matter how transparent - totally believable IF it helps democrats. It's 'teacher's pet' on steroids...
