The production company behind Sesame Street is asking political campaigns to refrain from using their characters in campaign ads including an Obama campaign ad that uses Big Bird.
"Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down," the company said in a Tuesday statement.

Hey Obama......neener, neener
That makes two ‘allies’ who have told him to stop using them without their permission.
How many other presidents have been asked not to use someone’s name to promote themselves? Hussein has been asked to not wear a soldier’s bracelet. There was another soldier’s family who requested he not use their son’s name. And now he’s asked not to use a trademarked puppet.
Was the intentional mention of Big Bird in last week’s debate a deliberate attempt to associate Barry0, once more, with the lightweight and frivolous?
I’m beginning to think so. And it’s working.
Sesame Street does not endorse candidates
But Big Bird endorses Mitt! (satire)
From Sen. Jim DeMint via the Wall Street Journal:
“Sesame Street make millions on their own. “Sesame Street,” for example, made more than $211 million from toy and consumer product sales from 2003-2006. Sesame Workshop President and CEO Gary Knell received $956,513 in compensation in 2008. With earnings like that, Big Bird doesn’t need the taxpayers to help him compete against the Nickleodeon cable channel’s Dora the Explorer.”
RNC answer to the Obama ad:
That's exactly the kind of public scrutiny they're desperately hoping to avoid.
Big Bird rips Obama:
This is the best sign yet that Mitt won the debate last week, if even PBS suddenly wants to be seen as “non-partisan” (at least until November 7).
Big Bird gives Obama...the Big Bird.
I say Big Bird is cackling to save his Sesame Street neck from the upcoming Congressional budget chopping block.
Big Bird is a Millionaire or Billionaire !!
And he is still on welfare !!!
Is BigBird male or female. If female, Obama just got bltch slapped by a BIRD!!!! oh hahahahahahaha, How sweet it is.
sesame seed workshop is just concerned they will end up like the oprah after she endorsed the one.
Blue, blue windows behind the stars,
Yellow moon on the rise,
Big birds flying across the sky,
Throwing shadows on our eyes.
Canada—we’re shooting your geese.
Wow - AARP, NBC, now Big Bird claim they’re being used by the Obamaites - well , what can you expect from those who think the rest of the world exists to keep them happy?......
DeMint should do his homework. Seasme Workshop (who now produces the program) receives NO federal money.
Now, the article does state that PBS gets funds and they do broadcast the show. I found it interesting that it reports that PBS gets $455 million a year from taxpayers and that is supposedly “only” 15% of their overall budget.
Wow...do the math. That’s a budget of almost $3 billion! And they can’t find someone else to give them $455 million? How about rich, fat cat liberals that give crap to charity (Biden, Gore) et al?
And, of course, the liberals say “it’s not very much in the overall federal budget”. Folks, if you can’t save the nickels and dimes from a budget, you will NEVER be able to cut real, and useless, spending.
