I have watched this year's campaign with interest, and I note that the Left, having no record to run on, has resorted to running against strawmen in the form of imaginary threats from the right.
Obama bemoans the "5 trillion dollar tax cut for the rich" that is nothing but a selective misinterpretation of Romney's tax plan. Biden threatens blacks that Romney will "put y'all back in chains." But no strawman is more odious, nor maddeningly effective than the "War on Women."
Hollywood starlets warn Romney to "stay out of our vaginas" while Sandra Fluke the 33 year old college student demands that we pay for her birth control. In a cynical attempt to convince women that the Right will defy settled law by taking away their right to kill their babies in the womb, they paint conservatives as knuckle-dragging cavemen wanting to go back to the days before Roe v.Wade, and Equal Rights legislation.
I understand that many women have only a cursory interest in politics and respond in Pavlovian bliss to such fear-mongering, but others seem to take the theme to the ridiculous extreme, casting their vote based on this single issue alone... relegating the future to an issue created out of thin air, when in reality, there are actual dangers creeping closer to our shores.
-The Middle East threatens to go up on flames, solidifying radical Islam as a world power for the next 100 years...making a less safe world for the next generation.
-The government is borrowing over a trillion dollars OF YOUR CHILDRENS MONEY every year to pay for Big Bird and Sandra Fluke's contraceptives and obamaphones and a thousand other things we cant afford. This will lower your childrens and grandchildrens standard of living for their entire lives.
-Obama is systematically cutting off energy production in this country in order to bring us closer to third world status.
-Our credit has been downgraded for the first time in history threatening the use of the dollar as the worlds reserve currency. This will immediately end our ability to print money.
-And closest to home, the cost of food has risen by 50%, the cost of gas has more than doubled, while the median income has decreased by $4000, causing a crunch that depletes the budget of American households.
Not to mention Jobs and Obamacare.
With all this in mind, I have only one request of the women of America. I do not direct this request to the patriotic women I have met who take the time to inform themelves of the issues facing our country but of those single-issue voters who plan to cast their ballot based on the fallacious "War on Women" and their perceived threat to women's "reproductive rights."
With a hopeful heart I humbly ask ... can you people stop thinking about your vagina's long enough to do the right thing for your children and the future of America?
