Now, newly published photographs of Obama from the 1980s show that the ring Obama wore on his wedding-ring finger as an unmarried student is the same ring Michelle Robinson put on his finger at the couple’s wedding ceremony in 1992.

Moreover, according to Arabic-language and Islamic experts, the ring Obama has been wearing for more than 30 years is adorned with the first part of the Islamic declaration of faith, the Shahada: “There is no God except Allah.”

It seems like someone could do that with a high resolution lens. Unless it's turned where you can't see the inscription.

Asking during the debate puts it on MSM where it can't be ignored. But it also puts Obama in the position where he's unlikely to lie about it since he's wearing it on national TV, and he doesn't know what pictures people have already.

Photographs published last week by the New Yorker from Obama’s time at Occidental College, taken by fellows students, indicate that the ring Obama wore three decades ago is the one he is wearing in the White House.

A clearly Obama related text, with clear provenance, from an early date. Is there any publicly viewable text, with indisputable Obama ties and authenticity that can be dated earlier than this? If not, vet it on those grounds.

Having Mitt ask during a debate is 100% certain to produce wall to wall “Mitt is cruel/stupid/distracting/etc.” coverage of just that by the MSM and would risk his gains from the first debate. Not a risk I’d care to take. Commenting on how both are good family men who always wear their wedding rings and segueing into a story about his and Ann’s rings wouldn’t do that, and depending on the details might even win him a couple mindless voters. But it would encourage some mindless Obama worshiper to put out a corresponding ‘me too’ story on the Obama rings. Which then opens the doors for commentary on that in a way the current story (by Corsi in WND, so automatically tagged and ignored as ‘birther nonsense’ by MSM) never could.

Yes, he's always worn it. FR knew about it 4 years ago. Now, whether that's the Bible or Moby Dick, who knows. But we do know that the first swearing in didn't take so they had to do another one or two swearing ins behind closed doors so what went on then is anyone's guess. Here's the first swearing in:
