State Department creates own board to look at Libya security query (fox guarding henhouse!)

The State Department’s top security officer is coming under scrutiny for playing a role in creating a special board that is investigating last month’s fatal attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

One of the State Department’s accountability review board’s key tasks will be to probe why the office of Patrick Kennedy, undersecretary of state for management, rejected requests for more diplomatic security in Libya in the weeks leading up to the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.

Mr. Kennedy, a career diplomat whose portfolio includes being the top security officer, signed the memo Oct. 1 that set up the review board.

In addition, the State Department said Tuesday that Mr. Kennedy played a role in selecting members of the board, which will be led by former Ambassador Thomas Pickering. And later Tuesday, the State Department put out a revised timeline that abandoned all claims, which the Obama administration had been making since the earliest days, that the attack was related to protests against a film that mocks Muhammad, Islam’s prophet.

Since the review board was set up, information has surfaced in the news media on crucial decisions Mr. Kennedy made before the attack that killed U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

If Barry and the jackasses at the State Department were smart, they’d have Al Queda do the investigation. Al Queda was there and knows exactly what happened. The State Department is too busy trying to put together a cover up to do a proper investigation.

They’re going to have a board? I suggest a two by four to carry Hillary Clinton out of town on. The EPA could supply the tar and the FDA could come up with some chicken feathers.

Sure, they have to have a board before throwing a career civil servant under the bus. (Mind you, he was probably a liberal Democrat, so I only feel slightly bad for him...)

In addition, the State Department said Tuesday that Mr. Kennedy played a role in selecting members of the board, which will be led by former Ambassador Thomas Pickering.

**** Well, I feel much better now that Foggy Bottom is investigating itself /sarc

It's worse than that... not only is Foggy Bottom going to conduct an "investigation" of itself, but among the investigators are former or current members of the board of Trita Parsi's NIAC, a group whose purpose is to soften and ease restrictions on the Iranian hardline regime.

Among NIAC's advisory board members are former Undersecretary of State Thomas Pickering....

NIAC's predecessor org was AIC, which petered out after one of its top dogs Amirahmadi was jailed for sanctions busting.

So NIAC was created to start fresh... for a while. One of NIAC's top dogs, congresscritter Robert Ney was involved with Jack Abramoff and pled guilty to conspiracy.

2003 : (WASHINGTON DC : NIAC IS FOUNDED BY TRITA PARSI [& ROY COFFEE & DARIUS BAGHAI]--- See IRAN, OBAMA, GEORGE SOROS, MULLAHS)Creation of NIAC The National Iranian-American Council (NIAC) was founded thanks to the efforts of four non Iranian-Americans: Roy Coffee, Dave DiStefano, Rep. Bob Ney, and Trita Parsi. Coffee and DiStefano, both Washington lobbyists, were investigated by the Justice Department for arranging a trip to London for Bob Ney, where he met a Syrian arms dealer and convicted felon involved in a conspiracy to circumvent sanctions to sell US-made aircraft parts to Tehran. ------------ "Iran's Oil Mafia (pro-regime Iranian lobby in U.S.)," Frontpagemagazine.com ^ | April 16, 2007 | Hassan Daioleslam Posted on Monday, April 16, 2007 8:08:26 AM by nuconvert

2007 : (REPORT : CAIR & NIAC SHARE THE SAME PUBLICIST: DAVID FENTON {See RADICAL LEFT, ALAR SCARE, MILK HORMONE SCARE, CINDY SHEEHAN, MOVEON.ORG, FENTON COMMUNICATIONS})

NOVEMBER 2009 : (LIBYA : BROWN LLOYD JAMES, THE PR FIRM THAT REPRESENTS PARSI'S PRO-IRANIAN REGIME LOBBYING GROUP NIAC [AND FORMERLY REPRESENTED QADAFFI & AL JAZEERA ENGLISH], HAS OPENED AN OFFICE IN TRIPOLI --- See OBAMA ADMIN'S JOHN LIMBERT OF NIAC, ELI LAKE, MEDIA BIAS) As the NIAC and Trita Parsi story unfolds in the wake of Eli Lake’s bombshell story, it is interesting to note just how it might be that many on the Left are simultaneously reaching the same conclusions (e.g., it’s all a neocon conspiracy, Parsi is besieged by an MEK agent). On Parsi and NIAC’s side is Brown Lloyd James, a PR firm with much experience in this area. The firm’s website tells us: “Brown Lloyd James handled the international launch of Al Jazeera English.” And we also know from news reports that “Brown Lloyd James, a public relations firm with offices in London and New York, has opened an office in Tripoli. It is reported to have placed articles by Colonel Gadaffi in American newspapers.” So they have the best of the best when it comes to representing these sorts of clients. Great information. Thank you piasa. Thomas Pickering came up when I was looking at the Bill Clinton Administration. When I heard HIllary say she was having him head up the panel I got out my old file, still have more on file to add, that I haven’t flushed out yet but here’s the link. I only use it on occasion. Note the timing of recent events...oil, pipelines, water...
