ABC News scrambles to cover up Barack Obama’s attendance at VP debate moderator’s wedding

Barack Obama was a guest at the 1991 wedding of ABC senior foreign correspondent and vice presidential debate moderator Martha Raddatz, The Daily Caller has learned. Obama and groom Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later tap to head the Federal Communications Commission, were Harvard Law School classmates at the time and members of the Harvard Law Review.

After TheDC made preliminary inquiries Monday to confirm Obama’s attendance at the wedding, ABC leaked a pre-emptive statement to liberal-leaning news outlets including Politico and The Daily Beast Tuesday, revealing what may have been internal network pressure felt just days before Raddatz was scheduled to moderate the one and only vice-presidential debate Thursday night.

Both Politico and The Daily Beast jumped to ABC and Raddatz’s defense. The Huffington Post, another liberal news outlet, joined them shortly thereafter, while calling “unusual” ABC’s attempt to kill the story before it gained wide circulation.

...

On Monday evening ABC spokesman David Ford grudgingly confirmed Obama’s attendance at the wedding, after shielding Raddatz in August

The Veep used to be the guy who lost the Pres. election. Under those rules McLame would be Veep. I think they changed it because it gives a lot of people a lot of incentive to off the Pres. Cuts both ways!

I think you’re exactly right on this.

Unlike most people, I think Ryan will have a difficult debate precisely because of this.

Biden will be the perceived winner simply because the media need him to be.

This kind of subtle corruption is helping to destroy our nation and if our people could be made aware of it, they would stop it.

“Raddaz should pull herself out of the debate due to conflict of interest.”

You mean now that she’s been caught?

Always have to wonder if the situation was reversed and the moderator was a Romney acquaintance/friend?
Which is probably a silly question because it wourld NEVER happen.
Which of itself is weird.

Why were the republicans asleep at the wheel again regarding this?

The incestuous nature of the state media is supposed to be hidden from the sheeple.

Wow, a debate moderator who favors Obama-Biden. How rare and unusual THAT is.

I didn’t know that! Yeah, it would be a great incentive.

Of course, the big joke in 2008 was whether or not Obama would tap Hillary as his VP choice. Probably didn’t for two reasons: 1) the Clinton co-presidency, and 2) Hillary’s limitless capacity to take any measure necessary to further her or Bill’s ambitions.

Calling her for Secretary of State was a brilliant move to keep her busy (and her mouth shut) and guarantee her behavior. After all, bad as Barry is, who would want to report to Joe Biden?

Once again it is the (in this case, unnecessary) cover-up that creates a more nefarious narrative than the actual event itself.

Which makes it even more curious why they would feel there's something to hide.

Is this another Obama boyfriend? Or someone who has dirt on Obama?

How come our side is always letting that other side have it their way ?

When do we ever stand up and insist on OUR way for a change ?

At this wedding she married Obamas FCC czar Julius Genachowski, a bundler for Obama campaign, raising more than $500,000 in 2008. Also was trying to push through Light Squared as FCC head

Its not the fact that Obama was in attendance at her wedding, normally I wouldn’t even care, I mean so what, he was at her wedding, doesn’t mean she can’t be impartial, but its the fact that the media is trying to cover it up which means something may be up here

It's not like he was at her wedding because he was a cousin's date. Obama was college buddies with her husband. That should be a disqualifier. Imagine the media reaction if a moderator turned out to be a personal friend of Romney.

Sounds like the story is to divert attention from the stuff you mention. If people just think the story is about a wedding attendance decades ago, they’ll blow it off as nothing, not looking deeper to the real scandal....

Update: Obama was college buddies with her EX husband. Genachowski and Raddatz got divorced, and he re-married in 2001.

Lehrer repeatedly tried to help Obama clarify points and tried to “interpret” his remarks. There just wasn’t enough help, obviously.....
