Posted on 10/10/2012 10:28:50 PM PDT by Eleutheria5
A U.S. lawmaker called Wednesday for a boycott of public transit systems in Washington and other cities running a pro-Israel advertisement that denounces "the savage" in Muslim countries, AFP reported.
The advertisements, which have also run on trains in New York and buses in San Francisco, went up this week at four stations in the U.S. capital area after a federal judge ruled that the group enjoyed a right to free speech.
Citing security concerns, the operator of the Metro had sought to delay the billboards, which read, "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man. Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."
Representative Mike Honda, a Democrat from California, said he supported the U.S. Constitution's guarantee of free speech and understood the court order for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to run the advertisements.
But "the right to not support hate speech is also a right, which is why I encourage people to boycott, if possible, WMATA" and public transit in the other places where the ad is running until the ad buys are finished, Honda said in a statement.
"We do not have to support hate speech," he added, according to AFP.
Honda, who as a child was interned at a camp due to his Japanese ancestry, said he took the issue "very personally" because he remembered the "hateful billboards and caricatures that equated Japanese Americans to savages" during World War II.
"We learn from history that hate speech and hysteria have dire consequences, the result of societal complacency, failed political leadership and the lack of courage to stand up and speak out against hate," he said.

It's hate speech to call someone a savage just because they pass out candy to celebrate the murder of an infant in her bed, or consider people heroes who do things like this:
OK, I'll eat there after hitting Chick-fil-A...
Representative Mike Honda, a Democrat from CaliforniaWhat a surprise. DNC antisemitism strikes again!
These people are offensive and need a good beheading.
When the Islamonazis finally take over, useful idiots like Mike Honda will be among the first to have their heads separated from their bodies.
He didn’t use it, so he won’t need it.
He didn’t use it, so he won’t need it.
Mikey sounds like a dumbass commie ‘RAT when he “equates” Japanese Americans during World War II to murdering Islamofascist terrorists. That’s what he is doing here. The boy really needs to think about what he’s saying before he opens his big mouth and says it.
Count me in. I’m not just boycotting the DC subway, I’m boycotting the entire cesspool of a city.
In wikipedia it says this limo-riding genius was an edumactor and skool principal before he wormed his way into Congress. So of course he’s a big lib who BTW supports immigration for same sex partners......as if we don’t have enough homos in America. Not to mention Congressional staff, heavily gay & lesbian, as is the entire Federale bureaucracy in the DC region
I do not get what’s hate about the poster.
Yea, these people who get drivers and limos......yea they probably don’t even know what a subway is.
And if by some miracle I am still alive at that point, hearing that the monsters they constantly enable have butchered them will probably be one of my few moments of respite. Of course, they'll probably still be very confused about what is happening to them. Oh well...
Those concepts appear too complicated for Honda to understand. Nor Erin Burnett when she interviewed Pamela Gellar. I think it was Erin.
I wonder how differently this would have turned out had Japanese immigrants carried out commando attacks and spouted anti-US propaganda on US soil during WWII?
Ya see, it ain't the poster.....it's the thought behind the poster. To this guy, thoughts = hate and must be controlled by the government. But I guess it would be wrong to be hatin' on this turd for hatin' on the hate poster.
If I was Subway, I'd cruise their web sites for fast food sites in the islamic world, and get good translations of the text. Then I'd run a side-by-side ad of "Our advertising, and our competitor's advertising". Then include their original ad, and the translation.
Aside from giving away free jihadi advertising on Subway's own dime, they can also see how long it takes the head-hackers complain about telling the truth. My guess: they'd copyright in the US every bit of their own advertising they could, and then threaten to sue Subway for copyright violation by infidels, as opposed to "hate speech" or false advertising.
Not Subway fast food. Subway trains. Honda wants commuters to boycott the trains.
Isn’t Jarod from Subway an Arab?
Mustn’t be a Muslim, since they use a lot of cured ham.
Not Subway fast food. Subway trains.”
But we don’t have subways in Texas so how could I boycott them even if I wanted to? I did quit buying at Subway’s in our part of the state though - got tired of being the only Caucasian there, even though it is one of the few fast food places where you can watch and make sure the preparers don’t put anything “strange” on your sandwich.
“When the Islamonazis finally take over, useful idiots like Mike Honda will be among the first to have their heads separated from their bodies.

The nauseating pronouncements of the self-hating father of beheaded Nick Berg is an example of as insane a cognitive dissonance as one can imagine. The father of beheaded journalist Daniel Pearl is not far behind.
“But we dont have subways in Texas so how could I boycott them even if I wanted to?”
You’ll just have to write to Mr. Honda asking to be excused, until such time as there’s a subway in El Paso with a sign on it saying to side with civilized people. Broadly hint that a little funding sent your way would help build it, so you could boycott it like he wants. If you do get a large check from the federal government, deposit it, withdraw a few hundred, and then go on down to your local Subway with a bunch of your Caucasian friends, and take up all the seats as you order your hearts out. Tip generously.
i’ll have a $5 foot long w/ bacon and a side of burning koran, please
You get Innocence of Muslims on a CD with that order. Just bring along a copy of some freep posts.
Flyers on the subway, buttons, t shirts, bumper stickers.
Depends how motivated messengers are. this is a battle that they cannot win.
Resturants - -
L O L!
That’s the way I read it, too!
“Citing security concerns, the operator of the Metro had sought to delay the billboards”
and thereby vindicated the message of the billboards.
Japanese were savages during world war 2.
Get over it Honda.
I had to read more carefully. First thought this was about Subway, the worst sub sandwich maker.
Around here they are all owned/staffed by M.E . types. Got into a verbal fight w/ one over a dollar bill w/ one corner torn off.
Saw one [mideast/hindu type]just rag on a new employee who was a young black kid.Was hoping he’d stuff the sandwich he was trying to make in her face.lol
The Jews were put in internment camps in Egypt in 1967. Every male from age 7 to 70. Afterwards they were all forcibly expelled, a community that dated back to King Solomon. But with whom does Honda sympathize?
Must be vicarious, retroactive Stockholm Syndrome.
If jihad isn’t hateful, what is?
Anti-jihad speech opposes hate, ergo Honda is supporting hate speech when he opposes the ad by condoning jihad.
Mike Honda is just pushing Islamic Hate. Most Muslim countries would handle him worse than any US internment camp would.
Yeah, Rep, that’s really going to work.
Now, I’ll have to eat at Subway for lunch today.
Imagine a lawmaker calling for a boycott of anti-Nazi businesses in 1942.
Idiots. I mean the folks who voted for this person.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
I’ll take a Harley over a Honda any day of the week.
Oh, and BTW, Pam Geller is a wonderful person. I have met her and talked with her at length.
That being said, I will be very happy if veiled, bomb toting, TP eschewing muzzies boycott the subway.
This policy would also be welcome in Israel, as it would make the buses much more pleasant and safe for riders.
Boycott the subway! Everyone get back into your cars!!
That’ll be better. Sure.
Put a bag over his head, and don’t take it off until you’re kicking him out the cargo door into an Afghani hot zone.
Talk about a reality check.
I'm boycotting Honda.
Honda's logic in comparing the ads to the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII is grossly flawed. The ads do not advocate the internment, nor any other inhumane or illegal treatment, of any Americans whatsoever.
Furthermore, boycotting mass transit as Honda advocates might hurt the boycotters and others economically. But leftists like Honda don't really care about that, because, in his way of thinking, in DC most of these mass transit riders boycotting would be federal workers who will be taken care of regardless of whether or not they show up for their jobs.
“But “the right to not support hate speech is also a right, which is why I encourage people to boycott, if possible, WMATA” and public transit in the other places where the ad is running until the ad buys are finished, Honda said in a statement.”
This guy was interned during WW2. Obviously he is allowing his personal experience on an entirely DIFFERENT set of circumstances to influence his decision on this subject.
His reaction is an emotional, irrational one.
The situations are NOT analogous. Islam is the equivalent of Fascism and is, by our current western standards, a BRUTAL, INTOLERANT, SEXIST cult. Would he oppose a poster attacking Fascism on the subway system? I certainly would hope not but today one never knows.
It would be great if the taxpayers could boycott paying for the subway. Ridership doesn’t matter when you have a free flow of “other peoples’ money”.
Yes, Pam Geller put up the ads on some of the subway platforms in NYC and, I think, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. She did it in response to anti-Israel ads that had previously been posted. This Honda guy is a moron - asking middle-class and working-class people to boycott the subways...
1. How old is this guy? In order to remember what he says he does, he must be pushing 80. If he is not, then he's lying.
2. I want to see picture proof of the hateful billboards.
There used to be short one just West of downtown Ft. Worth. It ran from a parking lot to a department store (what was it, A Montgomery Wards?) and a bit further, but not much further.
