With Obama It's Top and Bottom Against the Middle ["environmentalists" de-develop America]
The American Spectator ^ | October 11, 2012 | William Tucker

Posted on 10/11/2012 4:40:32 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

....Perhaps the signature accomplishment of the Obama Administration has been its opposition to large energy and industrial projects. The President has blocked the Keystone Pipeline, which would have brought a million barrels of oil to Texas refineries. His administration has shrunk the leasing of federal oil lands and slowed offshore drilling to a crawl. Its Environmental Protection Agency has closed down coal plants and constantly making noise about cracking down on fracking for natural gas.

....even as President Obama has pursued the most aggressive environmental agenda in history, attempting to regulate carbon emissions and cracking down on fossil fuels, the nation's environmental enthusiasts have remain largely unsatisfied. They are upset because he licensed two new nuclear reactors. They want to close down Vermont Yankee and Indian point, even if it leaves the northeast short of electricity. They are currently sponsoring a referendum in San Francisco to tear down the Hetch Hetchy Dam,even though it provides the City by the Bay with 25 percent of its water and 40 percent of its electricity.

Environmentalists proclaim that they only oppose these technologies because they envision a new world built on wind and solar energy. Yet when it comes to implementing these visions, they end up equally opposed. Environmentalists are already suing to stop President Obama's plans for solar installations in the California desert. In Vermont, activists have already laid down in front of bulldozers to prevent construction of the windmills that are supposed to replace Vermont Yankee. After a certain point, you have to ask,"Exactly what do these people want?"

The answer was provided by early 20th century sociologist Thorstein Veblen in his famous book,The Theory of the Leisure Class. In a largely forgotten chapter called "Industrial Exemption,"Veblen posed the question,"Why is it that people who have benefited most from industrial society are often the most violently opposed to its further expansion?"

There has NEVER been an administration with such
hatred for Americans.

NEVER.

The US Congress is treasonous to have allowed this
for 4 years. Every one of them.

It seems these people who don’t want any platform that develops energy and spin around attacking any and all forms - apparently have other personal issues they are running from and attempt to mask these deficiencies by overwhelming their lives with these huge tasks...bottom line - they are pathetic!

“Environmentalists proclaim that they only oppose these technologies because they envision a new world built on wind and solar energy.”

They should be taken out and strung up from the trees which they profess they want to save.

“Top”...”Bottom”??!!!

What an infantile conception of the American political landscape!!

You’d expect that level of ‘understanding’ from a person with absolutely NO education whatsoever or a person witn NO direct and personal experience of American life!!!

(Foreign nationals and children come to mind)

I went to a township meeting yesterday about how to deal with weeds in the lake and the overburden of state and federal regulations.

These meetings always bring a small crowd of outside environmentalists running to try to intimidate us into obedience. Yesterday I threw out the idea of retrofitting the dam for hydroelectric and it was like showing that group of enviro-vampires a cross. Its a new dam (less than 35 years old) and the state just relaxed the regulations on building small hydroelectric power stations. There’s also the benefit of the regulations being a bit lighter for reservoirs that are producing electricity. To make matters worse for the enviroweenies, the township council is setting aside some time to study and consider the feasibility of a retrofit.

The envirotards would have flattened my tires if I hadn’t walked to the meeting.

In many ways its both sad and funny to watch these people, (Enviro’s), twist themselves into knots to argue and fight ANY new ideas to generate energy and that means oil, electricity, what ever...

I was doing some research into an old fashioned Windmill powered water pump. For myself I think I wouldn’t have much difficulty putting one in. But in many places if not most of the United States there are many regulatory, zoning, and States water rights issues that it becomes prohibitively expensive to do. And this is an OLD PROVEN technology.

It just another way to slam a person in the head that America is no longer the home of the Free and the Brave.

What it comes down to I feel is that if there is a way for a person or family to become independent or as some say, Off the Grid, it will be opposed to the fullest extent once the effort is discovered by the “powers that be”.

“Exactly what do these people want?”

I don’t have to ask. They want the destruction of man, plain and simple. Even I find it hard to believe, but you only have to look at the words of the environazis to know their greatest wish.

you know if these people would all go back to the soil like they want the whole USA to do, they wouldn’t have time to think of messing with other people.

I always say if you are against electric, do you want to go w/o AC? Try it for a month and get back to me.

3rd world countries ration electric to the hospital to one day a week. Which day of the week do you want YOUR hospital to have?

Go plow fields, water them and harvest w/o electric or gas & oil for machines to help you. Just to feed your family with take all your time and energy. Leave us alone to rebuild the economy.

A severe blow can be made to such people with a single congressional act: “The State Lands Restoration Act”, which restores the vast majority of federal land takings to the individual states, excepting Indian Reservations and military bases.

The second part of the Act removes from the office of the president the authority to order such takings via proclamation, that in future, any such takings must originate in the House of Representatives.

Just this one bill will do the following: Take authority over non-navigable state waterways and lands away from the federal agencies; open vast amounts of land for energy exploration and development; restrict the authority of the judiciary to create arbitrary land-use restrictions, etc.

It would be a devastating blow to radical environmentalist totalitarianism.
