(CNSNews.com) – Obama for America Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter said that the only reason the terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya had become a controversy was because of Republican candidate Mitt Romney and his running mate Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.).

“The entire reason that this has become the political topic it is, is because of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. It’s a big part of their stump speech,” Cutter said in an appearance on CNN Thursday.

“It is reckless and irresponsible what they’re [Romney and Ryan] doing,” she said.

When anchor Brooke Baldwin played Cutter a video of the reaction from the mother of Benghazi victim Sean Smith accusing the Obama administration of lying to her, Cutter demurred and said the State Department would have to answer any further questions about the facts of the incident.

“First of all, you’re right. I can’t speak for the administration. I’m on the other side now. I’m on the campaign, and my job may be to spin, Ashley [Brooke], but it’s also to put the facts out there, and we’ve put the facts out there every step of the way,” Cutter said.

Romney was the one to criticize some low-level moron for linking this attack to the video. At first, it looked like Romney was being a little pre-mature in speaking out before Obama got to make a statement. But look what happened next - and I wonder if Romney may have know that all along!

The Obama administration went into a knee-jerk defense of what this idiot said, without thinking things through. If Romney hadn't done this, maybe Obama would have acted differently, thought about it, and come up with a better response.

But once Romney made his crticism of this linkage before Obama had a chance to comment, it caused the Obama administration to defensively act without thinking, and then to continuously defend this ridiculous position.

Unlikely that this was premeditated by Romney, but it it was, it is pure, political GENUIS!
