Right now, some are saying that Rimshot Joe won the debate. Wait until they wake up in the morning. They better enjoy tonight. Biden came across like a fool and everyone who watched on TV saw it.
Most people will not even have watched the debate, but they will hear about how Biden behaved. Ryan did nothing to harm the campaign. I think he was sent out with instructions to play defense and to not allow Biden to sucker him into a spitting contest. The Romney camp thinks they’re ahead. Obama thinks he’s behind. Biden’s behavior tonight is confirmation of this.

Yep. Ryan came out like a wonk that he is, something that he was warned about. He’s got a command of his figures and his anecdotes, but he didn’t score any memorable hits, unfortunately, and those could have been some relatively trivial things, such as mentioning the apology tour, or the bowing down in front of foreign tyrants, which would, I think, force the MSM’s hand into bringing back information about and pictures of those things. As I said, something memorable, like even the stupid, “there you go again” or “a thousand points of light”. It was a wasted opportunity. These things are like professional wrestling when it comes to affecting the viewers who are not already on your side.

Except that Ryan got the only real laugh out of the audience tonight, when he quipped about Biden's propensity to be a gaffe machine.

Oh I can go on for 300 pages like this but what’s the point. I hope we can still pull it out but Ryan had an opportunity and I hope mitt says this.
There didn’t need to be any words to be spoken at the debate tonight.... it was clear to Americans who was the real adult on the stage tonight. and it wasn’t Joe Biden.

Surely you caught Ryan's line about Biden being a gaffe-o-matic? The whole audience burst out laughing. The talk shows have been playing it over and over.
I agree with everything you say. People are misinformed, uninformed and it should be the job of our candidates to rectify it. The debates are such an opportunity, and as I said, they can be used against the MSM, forcing their hand, as it were, in revealing what they had been hiding. Things don’t have to be spoken as bluntly as you and most of us here put it, but they can and should be spoken. Because this debate was like a debate between, say Dan Quayle and whoever was the opposite of him, I don’t remember, anyway, two near equals, neither of whom (or whose bosses) was bent on destroying America, on “improving” and “correcting” the Constitution as Obama himself said more than once in 2008 and earlier.
It was as if Ryan had bought into the McCain/MSM version of Obama as a “good man”.
Oh sure, I caught it. That was a good one. But reading in the WSJ a couple of weeks ago a report from the inside of the Romney camp, I understood that in preparing for the debates they voted there against using “zingers”. I think it was a mistake. Again, I think these debates are in part much like professional wrestling.
Ryan was overwhelmingly better in the close. Biden rambled and seemed distracted. Ryan was clear, firm, precise and effective.

It's a VP debate. It doesn't matter who "won" or not. The only thing that matters is whether or not either VP candidate did any harm to the ticket.
Ryan did no harm to the Romney ticket. Biden, based on this RNC ad, may have with his laughs and smirks at serious issues.

Agreed. The Romney camp needs to study up on Ronald Reagan's successful and devastating use of zingers in his presidential debates. It's a fine art in politics, which goes back a very long way.
