Biden Bombed
The Weekly Standard ^ | 10/12/2012 | Fred Barnes

You don’t win a nationally televised debate by being rude and obnoxious. You don’t win by interrupting your opponent time after time after time or by being a blowhard. You don’t win with facial expressions, especially smirks or fake laughs, or by pretending to be utterly exasperated with what your opponent is saying.

That’s why Vice President Joe Biden didn’t win the one and only debate last night with his Republican rival, Mitt Romney’s running mate Paul Ryan.

In fact, though Ryan had several weak moments—one of them was on Syria—the only conceivable takeaway from the veep debate was Biden’s out of control conduct. It will be long remembered—and not favorably.

There’s one person who should be delighted with Biden. That’s Al Gore. He had the honor of having delivered the most over the top and weird performance in a presidential campaign debate when he sighed and frowned and acted frustrated in his first debate with George W. Bush in 2000. Now Biden has taken that crown—or dunce cap—from Gore.

The only good thing about Thursday night’s debate for the Obama campaign was that it involved Biden rather than Obama. As a result, it’s not likely to have any impact in the election and may not even affect the polls over the next few days.

What were the Obama strategists thinking? Yes, Biden’s performance may have pleased the Democratic party’s liberal base. So what? Their votes are in the bag. Obama needs to attract the small bloc of undecided and swing voters. They’re not likely to lurch his way on the basis of the show Biden put on.

According to desperate dems, like Chris Mathews and a few posters I’ve seen on breitbart and the blaze, you not only win debates this way, you win elections this way.

I would also say that Mr. 0bama thinks you win debates this way according to his reaction.

Personally, I found it disgusting, I find the behavior of democrats disgusting. This moron vice president dares to laugh and grin in the face of what this country and free people around the world face at this time?

How dare you, Mr. Biden. I would tell you that you should be ashamed of yourself, but you are too stupid to even understand the concept of shame.

See you in November, Chuckles.

This was Axelrod’s prep. It’s their collective persona on display. You like? Not!

Yes, Biden’s performance may have pleased the Democratic party’s liberal base. So what?”

I think biden’s buffoonery likely gave liberals some hope. “At least we’re hitting back now!” ...that sort of thing. So it might shore up the base, and that probably makes everyone feel better. (Of course, it will also make a few feel like “we have the wrong guy on top of the ticket!”(

But it is quite correct that Biden did absolutely zero for independent voters. And he ticked off Republicans.

All in all, a net loss in terms of what matters now: votes.

What were the Obama strategists thinking?

They were thinking that the Truth would hurt them more than pushing out the usual lies and mocking serious responses to serious issues. They have become so bankrupt in the arena of decency and honesty that they literally have nothing left to lean on.

Biden’s red meat performance was a hit with the kind of vermin who occupied the Wisconsin capital building. Otherwise, it was pathetic.

Precisely.

The lies must be continued at all cost

Let us hope Obama follows this “brilliant” strategy. Act the punk, fire up the base and totally alienate the other 2/3rd of voters. Right now the only thing keeping Obama afloat in the polls is his “likeability”, lose that and this election is over.

Clint Eastwood was right, Joe Biden is truly the intellectual of the democratic party.

Biden shored up the base with his performance last night. This is what they wanted to see from Obama, but as we know the VP debate means little in terms of who wins the Presidency. So it was indeed the perfect opportunity to throw the base some zeal with their potatoes.

“Boomed?” We need to invent a new word for disgracing yourself on national TV while acting like a “Jackass!”

I don’t get it, they act like thugs and they get a bounce? What’s wrong with this picture? Romney GOT the bounce cause he went head to head with Obumbler and didn’t let him dominate the debate. This in my opinion is how elections are won. The EVIL RATS have had their boots on our throats for a long time and I want a fighting spirit from our candidates....NONE of this GOOD GUY CRAP! If George Washington had fought with that mentality America would not be here! Romney BETTER NOT EVEN THINK OF DOING WHAT RYAN DID ON LAST NIGHT’S DEBATE on his second debate...he better kick some A&& cause the evil rats smell blood and the townhall debate fight is going to get nasty REAL QUICK!!! The odds are stack against Romney there...WHY THE HELL did they agree to such an arrangement...UGH! MY GOD we are at WAR for the survival of this country! Fight to the bitter end! Yes Biden got the better of me! UGH! Ok I’ve vented!

Well if the base was looking for a jackasshole, I guess they found what they were looking for.

I was looking for a serious VP who understands where America is, and I found what I was looking for.

"The lies must be continued at all cost!"

That describes how the rats look at any election and any opponent daring to challenge them!
