Biden Mocks Paul Ryan On Taxes: 'Oh, Now You're Jack Kennedy?' (video at link)

Vice President Joe Biden mocked Republican tax plans Thursday night, challenging his Republican opponent Paul Ryan to explain how he would pay for a 20 percent across-the-board reduction in federal income taxes without cutting deductions for middle-class families.

Here's their exchange, per the debate transcript:

RYAN: You can cut tax rates by 20 percent and still preserve these important preferences for middle-class taxpayers.

BIDEN: Not mathematically possible.

RYAN: It is mathematically possible. It’s been done before. It’s precisely what we’re proposing.

BIDEN (laughing): It has never been done before.

RYAN: It’s been done a couple of times, actually.

BIDEN: It has never been done before.

RYAN: Jack Kennedy lowered tax rates, increased growth.

BIDEN: Oh, now you’re Jack Kennedy?

Ryan's reaction is priceless

Biden has obviously never learned humility, and his blatant political class elitism is very much on display. You might think that a guy who has made as many public errors speaking, and who had to drop out of a race years ago because of plagiarism, would have learned some humility. I did not see the debate last night, but if this exchange is typical of the evening then I'm glad I didn't subject myself to it. Biden’s demeanor is disgusting.

Imagine....if something happened to the President....you end up with Joe Biden as the President. After watching through the debate last night...it’d make you pause and ask yourself if you can stand more than thirty days of this if he were President.

Ryan rope-a-doped Biden. He stayed calm and cool and let the pompous gasbag just be himself.

That trick was better played by Jack Kemp. Biden came across as a total ass last night. Remind.fed me of Algore when he debated Bush.

Biden was added to the ticket to (successfully) convince white people and Catholics that they could vote for a Muslim Communist; he wasn’t there for anything else. Last night he was simply trying to do that again, and it probably worked for some bottom-feeders; a lot of poor whites want “Obama phone”, while a lot of Catholics want abortion-on-demand and will use Social Security as their excuse for voting Obama/Biden again.

If I was Ryan I would have said “I was speaking of the Kennedy administration, not channeling Kennedy, Mr. Lloyd Bentsen”.

Ryan had a really good point here and Biden trumped him out of it. He should have stayed on point and finished his comment even with Biteme’s incessant interruptions. It was more important than showing Biden for what he is.

I really liked it when he said they asked about 0bama’s plan and it was a speech and the CBO cannot score a speech. It exposes the great weakness that the empty chair has no plan and currently is operating on no plan.

If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Their foreign policy is the same as well. There is none, they are just winging it without a plan and without knowledge of what’s going on. Having no plan for Lybia, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, is a recipe for disaster and it seems like the enemies of America has a plan and they are implementing it against us with bumbling success.

It was during the tax cut phase of the debate. I think the pre programmed line was uttered in the belief Ryan said Kennedy tax cut increased revenue.

Ryan didn’t actually didn’t say it or perhaps didn’t have the chance to say it, but Biden blurted the pre programmed line any way. His hair trigger misfired

Did you catch who Biden thinks creates the most jobs? HEDGE FUND MANAGERS!

During their bantering over taxes, Ryan correctly pointed out that Obama's taxes would kill the largest job creators in this Country and crazy Joe interrupted and said over Ryan's speaking that Hedge fund managers create the most jobs in America. I almost fell off the couch!

Here's a book that Biden should read that will show him that what Ryan proposes is, indeed, mathematically possible and has been done before:
Econoclasts: The Rebels Who Sparked the Supply Side Revolution and Restored American Prosperity by Brian Domitrovic (Wilmington, Del.: ISI, 2009)

Joe Biden tries to plagerize Lloyd Bentson, but fails.

I had to explain that to my 19-year-old daughter. She had no idea why Biden said that.

She’s no fan of Romney, or politics (she had to watch I think for a class). But when she finished, she said if she had to vote for one of the 4 candidates, she’d vote for Paul Ryan for President.

So maybe there is something about Ryan helping with the youth vote.

I was afraid Biden would be able to sell Ryan as too young and inexperienced. That did not happen, and I think that was about the only shot the democrats had of making the VP debate matter.
