Benghazi Burns and Petraeus Goes to Princeton?

David Petraeus accepting the James Madison Medal at Princeton, 2010

---

Two weeks ago, I wondered whether CIA Director Petraeus was politicizing the intelligence after a source told Fox News  on September 27 that three days after the Benghazi assault, Petraeus briefed the House Intelligence Committee that "Benghazi was an out-of-control demonstration prompted by the YouTube video. According to the source, this was `shocking' to some members who were present and saw the same intelligence pointing toward a terrorist attack."

Knowing Petraeus' sensitivities to the faux-stimulus of what he has called in Senate testimony "Arab anger,"  such politicization, or, perhaps better, such Arabizing of the intelligence would likely come naturally to him. No stranger to politicking, Petraeus as CENTCOM commander engaged in what was described as an "unprecedented"political push in early 2010 on behalf of Islam's Israel-centered demonology in order to enhance Americas's military standing in Iraq and Afghanistan. This dovetailed neatly with his perhaps surprising take on Gitmo -- close it, its "existence has been used by the enemy against us" --  and his really shocking take on Hezbollah: “Hezbollah’s justifications for existence will become void,” Petraeus told the Al Hayat as reported in the Lebanese Daily Star, “if the Palestinian cause is resolved.” Given this Arabist sensibility (and don't forget one of his thesis directors at Princeton was Stephen Waltof Walt & Mearsheimer), it's no stretch to imagine the man taking up cry of Islamic video-rage as well.

Now, with so many of the adminstration's bald lies about Benghazi being exposed,PJ Tatler's Bryan Preston is asking not whether Petraeus was politicizing the intell, but whether he is "among the sources of the Benghazi deception."

In a post called "You Know Who Still Hasn't Called Benghazi a Terrorist Attack?" Preston reprises some of Petraeus' appeasement of Koran Rage back in Afghanistan. Preston also notes that several senators sent a letter on October 9 to Petraeus, DNI Clapper and White House CT advisor John Brennan asking for a specific timeline on the Benghazi intelligence They haven't received an answer.

Which isn't to say Petraeus hasn't been busy of late. Two weeks ago (September 27), the Daily Princetonian published a story suggesting that the CIA director was interested in becoming president of Princeton -- this after the current president anounced her retirement on the weekend of September 23. Petraeus' response as reported by the college paper?

I think I’ve made my respect and admiration for the great faculty and student body of Princeton University very clear, and I will reiterate that now,” Petraeus said in the statement. “As it currently stands, however, I am living the dream here at CIA.”

You don't need a CIA decoder ring to read that as he wants it. Further, with Benghazi's Big Lies crashing around him, I would even interpret the strangely jarring phrase "living the dream here at the CIA" as: Get me out of here. But I wonder how Benghazi-gate will look on his resume?   Diana West

Not sure I understand what you mean. Do you mean Princeton? That was an old picture from 2010. The author writes that Petraeus is hinting loudly that’s where he would like to go.

If you are referring to Joe throwing Petraeus under the bus last night (intelligence), after reading this article, Joe might not be lying. If her source is correct, Petraeus thought it was the video three days after the murders. That is insane.

Very disturbing. I have been suspicious of Petreaus for some time now. He has been brainwashed by the arabists and apologists. No man of true integrity would have gone to work for this administration unless it was in order to protect our troops and serve as a bulwark and whistleblower against this administration’s treason.

Petreaus has done none of the above. NONE!!

If true it sounds like Petraeus either is inept in his job or out and out lied to the Intel Committee, maybe both.

I'd say the job at Princeton suits him much better than his present one.

Thanks for the ping.

"You KNOW it was a plan."

Yup - BUT, who was the "mastermind"? Who put Petraeus up to this? Obama is being marginalized in his own Adm (as recent report on the Bin Laden raid demonstrates). Who called the shots on this?

Petraeus briefed the House Intelligence Committee [Sept 14, 2012]

And...this briefing was confidential

How convenient! Why is Issa considering a jobs report inquiry instead of getting to the bottom of this---before the election?

The US was attacked. It was, by definition, an act of war. Citizens demand answers now.

These people are dangerous for the US as they were with the ambassador in Libya. Their priority is not protecting the US and American life. The constitution is their enemy and they are way too sympathic to Shira. They’ve taken up Islamic suicide bombing - killing their own country for the “greater good” of Islam.

Something is going to blow up after they are removed from power as it did with Bush. Immediately, Romney had best get around and over them to find out what Islamic dangers they have set up and covered up.

I feel they are super dangerous for us.

T, this was a CLASSIC clinton op...just like the USS Cole. A ‘tribute’ for a perceived wrong in return for a ‘favor’. Stevens was an ‘in kind’ gift for the killing of yahya al libi.

We have been adrift in dealing with the islamist threat for awhile now. Bush through bad advice and wanting to believe that there were so called moderate Muslims and Obama through malice of forethought. If you have not watched Glenn Beck’s special on Islamist infiltration, I highly recommend it. I suspect I am not telling you anything that you didn’t know already though.

Sadly, the general public has an attention span the size of a peanut. I fear that the only people that truly care about what is going on are a dying breed. I am not optimistic today that we can save this country in the long run. Hopefully, Romney will clean house of the infiltrators and leftists if he wins, but he will do nothing unless we expose them and demand it.

YIKES, MM!!!

Stevens --- a premeditated contribution to god Moloch?

What is the "favor"? I sure hope you are wrong about this.

I never discount your evaluations, but the thought that they needed to "save appearances" in view of the election is as far as I am willing to let my mind descend at the moment.

And...to that point who is looking worse right now, other than Susan Rice---and now Petraus---than Hillary Clinton?

Given what we presently know, I can't see how this was a "Clinton" operation.

Think about it. bill doesn’r want either hillary OR obama ro be president. He can’t afford either. He engineered obama into office and he is engineering him out and making sure hillary has no chance at all. obama has outlived his usefulness.

I find this thread rather stunning, but DrO didn’t. He’s never liked or trusted the highly touted Petraeus.

Agree with all. To emphasize: "obama has outlived his usefulness."

Signs are obvious on this---which is why, if Romney wins, I don't think there will be any riots (or minimal). Think obama has been assigned his next career opportunity as long as he doesn't instigate blood in the streets. "They" are keeping him on a short leash, and I don't think he will have any will to disobey if he loses.

Speaking of the USS Cole:

The Deadly Disgrace of Obama’s Pro-Terrorist Lawyers [Michelle Malkin]

Today, October 12, marks the 12th anniversary of the bombing of the USS Cole. The grim milestone comes as President Obama faces mounting questions about his administration’s dereliction of duty during the murderous attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya. And it comes just a day after resurgent al-Qaida thugs pulled off the drive-by assassination of a top Yemeni security official who worked at the U.S. embassy in Sanaa. These are not “bumps in the road.” These are gravesites on the blood-spattered path to surrender.

The CIA is obviously clueless..why are We the People continuing to allow our taxes to support this useless/clueless outfit?

Add this to the pieces. Black pastors are urging black congregations to walk away from the dem plantation. Now why would that be happening NOW? Don’t forget bill was the first ‘black’ president. Hmmm?

DrO has good instincts and training to spot those phonies and sociopaths. We should get him to run personality profiles on all of the politicians and high profile bureaucrats!
