An initial investigation by congressional Republicans alleged that the families of local Libyans serving for a contractor to provide security at the consulate were urged in the days before the attack to have the guards not show up to work on Sept. 11. U.S. intelligence officers also knew of four suspects within 24 hours of the attack that had links to Ansar al-Sharia, a local jihadist organization with some ties to al Qaeda’s regional affiliate for north Africa.
The video footage also supports the accounts of four diplomatic-security officers who were at the Benghazi compound and who initially responded to the attack. On Sept. 17, these officers told State Department investigators in formal briefings that there was no spontaneous protest the night of the attack, U.S. officials tell The Daily Beast. This information was what led the State Department to conclude there was no protest at the consulate on the day of the attacks, according to these officials.
Nonetheless, White House spokesman Jay Carney continued to say until Sept. 20 that the Benghazi assault resulted from a protest over the Internet film.

The article says the FBI recovered the video from the site last week. Real time that isn't.
How the video survived that long without being found by someone else first is a real mystery.
They did manage to get a drone over the site, but it didn't arrive until the fight was nearly over.
In any case, it's been known since the get-go that the Benghazi attack was not a demonstration gone wild. We have, for example, the testimony of Ethan Chorin, who was in Benghazi with Dr. Thomas Burke of Mass General, Boston. They were there to assist Libyan doctors in setting up an Emergency Room operation at the Benghazi Medical Center. They and the Libyan doctors were slated to meet with Ambassador Stevens the morning after the attack.
The evening of the attack, Chorin was on the phone with the Ambassador's security detail arranging the meeting, when the call ended abruptly with a shout of "We've got a problem here". Then Chorin and Burke were left to hole up in their hotel listening to sounds of the distant violence.
IOW, no demonstration, no build-up. Just a sudden surprise attack by Al Qaeda. Which we now know would not have been a surprise, but for the incompetence of the Obama State Department.

BENGHAZI, Libya — A plane has been shot down over the main rebel-held city in eastern Libya.
An Associated Press reporter saw the plane go down in flames outside Benghazi early Saturday after the area came under shelling.
A black cloud went up over the city’s southern outskirts.
Muammar Qaddafi’s government declared a cease-fire Friday in an attempt to outmaneuver Western military intervention. But the opposition has been saying shells rained down well after the announcement and accused the Libyan leader of lying.

Weekend media reports showed al-Qaida’s flag flying in central Benghazi, and noted that Libyan anti-aircraft missiles had been purchased by terror groups, but White House spokesman Jay Carney said Monday the administration has not been surprised by news reports from Libya.
“I’m not aware of anything that has been reported that has surprised us out of Libya,” Carney said during a morning press briefing.
White House officials have not responded to The Daily Caller’s request for an explanation of Carney’s statement.

Obama Record: Four Americans are killed in Libya, our consulate burned and our Egyptian embassy stormed on the anniversary of 9/11 after we apologize for a film allegedly “insulting to Islam.” Arab Spring, Mr. President?
Maybe President Obama shouldn’t have skipped all those national intelligence briefings. The burning of our Libyan consulate in Benghazi, the murder of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others, including two U.S. Marines, and the storming of our embassy in Egypt after our diplomats apologized for a film made in the U.S. should show just who is the foreign policy novice in the 2012 presidential campaign.
The Obama administration is attempting to walk back the damage done by an apology issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo for a 14-minute trailer for a film called “The Innocence of Muslims” posted on YouTube, part of a two-hour, little-seen film produced by Sam Bacile, a 52-year-old California real estate developer who identifies himself as an Israeli Jew.
As the late, great Andrew Breitbart famously said in a tweet to someone who demanded he apologize for this or that, “Apologize for what? Should we apologize for the exercise of free speech in a democracy?”
Yet that is what the U.S. Embassy in Cairo did.
“The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims — as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions,” the statement read in part. It went on to say that the U.S. “firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.”

The Egyptian Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper reportedly obtained a copy of a top secret letter addressed to Major General Samy Sedhom, first assistant Interior Minister for Social Security, on September 4, which stated that intelligence services notified the ministry’s national security body that elements from the organization in Egypt and Gaza were planning attacks on the two embassies.
Security sources said the letter was forwarded to Egyptian security officials, informing them to undertake the necessary measures. The sources added that Military Intelligence informed the Interior Ministry one week ago that 22 terrorists in Sinai are planning to attack vital facilities and police checkpoints, according to the Egypt Independent.

Three days before the deadly assault on the United States consulate in Libya, a local security official says he met with American diplomats in the city and warned them about deteriorating security.
Jamal Mabrouk, a member of the February 17th Brigade, told CNN that he and a battalion commander had a meeting about the economy and security.
He said they told the diplomats that the security situation wasn’t good for international business.
“The situation is frightening, it scares us,” Mabrouk said they told the U.S. officials. He did not say how they responded.

A Libyan security guard who said he was at the U.S. consulate here when it was attacked Tuesday night has provided new evidence that the assault on the compound that left four Americans dead, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, was a planned attack by armed Islamists and not the outgrowth of a protest over an online video that mocks Islam and its founder, the Prophet Muhammad.
The guard, interviewed Thursday in the hospital where he is being treated for five shrapnel wounds in one leg and two bullet wounds in the other, said that the consulate area was quiet – “there wasn’t a single ant outside,” he said – until about 9:35 p.m., when as many as 125 armed men descended on the compound from all directions.
The guard, who said he’d been hired seven months ago by a British company to protect the compound, said the first explosion knocked him to the ground, and he was unable to fire his weapon. Four other contracted guards and three members of Libya’s 17th of February Brigade, a group formed during the first days of the anti-Gadhafi uprising and now considered part of Libya’s military, were protecting the outside perimeter of the compound.

All of our embassy and consular buildings in Libya had been left unprotected at the express orders of Hillary after the Islamist takeover. AQ knew it was an easy mark, and while Stevens may have been too trusting (as was posted elsewhere, he was a Third Worldist, one of those people who falls in love with a primitive culture and thinks he can help the people in it), he wasn’t responsible for his death.
He had an appointment in Benghazi with officials - he was actually signing a deal and opening a new cultural center, of all things - and did not travel there on 9/11, but was already at the consular outpost with his staff. His aide who was killed tweeted the night before that he had seen the local “security” photographing the building and wondered if they would all be murdered, but nothing was done to provide any more security.
It was the policies of the US government with its refusal to defend against the Islamic terrorists that led to his death.
Yesterday, AQ issued a communique, which I read in the Spanish press, that said that anyone who meets any American ambassador or emissary must follow the example of “the descendants of Omar Al Mujtar (the Libyans)” and kill him. They also said that their objective was to drive US embassies out of any “Muslim countries” and that Muslims in the US should attack diplomats and diplomatic facilities in the US as well because “they had a better opportunity to do so.”

It was a professionally executed terrorist operation by a professional Al Qaeda assassination team, whose 20 members acted under the orders of their leader Ayman al Zawahri after special training. They were all Libyans, freed last year from prisons where they were serving sentences for terrorism.
The operation is rated by terror experts as the most ambitious outrage al Qaeda has pulled off in the last decade. According to our sources, the gunmen split into two groups of 10 each and struck in two stages:
1. They first fired rockets at the consulate building on the assumption that the ambassador’s bodyguards would grab him, race him out of the building and drive him to a safe place under the protection of the US secret service;
2. The second group was able to identify the getaway vehicle and the ambassador’s armed escort and lay in wait to ambush them. The gunmen then closed in and killed the ambassador and his bodyguards at point blank range.
Accidental Death of Libyan at US Embassy in Tripoli

In an unfortunate fatal accident on Tuesday, a Libyan guard was reportedly crushed to death by the entrance gate of the US embassy in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. The incident occurred when the gate lethally dislodged from its pathway and fell on the guard.
The embassy, which is located in Walie Al-Ahed road in the Sidi Slim area, has a large, heavy gate that bars the entrance and is manned by guards for security measures.
The gate is intended to be controlled mechanically, however due to damages allegedly sustained by the mechanism, the gate has to be manually opened and shut by the security guards throughout the day.
A spokesman for Ambassador Stevens contacted by The Tripoli Post said: “The employee was a valued member of the embassy who served the embassy with courage, dedication and distinction. We have conveyed our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to his family and friend.Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
The official details of the incident, including the identification of the victim, were not released by the embassy.
However, sources told The Tripoli Post that the accident occurred at around 3:30 pm on Tuesday in the presence of several witnesses, including three Libyan guards and two American embassy employees, as well as the ambassador himself.
An investigation into the victim’s death is currently being carried out. The question is being raised as to the safety of the facility. The embassy has apparently offered some form of compensation to the victim’s family.
Sources have said that the parts needed to repair the gate’s mechanical system were ordered a year ago but have still not arrived.
Whether the embassy intends to take future safety measures regarding the gate remains unclear, however health and safety concerns for the security employees continue to be an issue.

I believe the White House already knew, but they are denying it. Something very shady is going on. I believe Canada officials, and U.S. officials were both warned about the attacks at the same time. Canada cut ties with Iran (An Islam country) The U.S. officials (Obama) did nothing to protect our embassy’s, or our four people who were murdered in Libya. Canada is a U.S. ally.
