Ron Paul, the maverick Texas congressman who has twice run for the Republican presidential nomination, won't endorse the nominee of his party. Though Paul said last week it was "very unlikely" he would endorse former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, he made it definitive in an interview October 12 on the CNBC program Futures Now.
"No," he said, plainly and unequivocally, when asked about an endorsement. Neither the GOP challenger nor President Obama will change the course of fiscal and monetary policy that is leading to what has been called the "fiscal cliff," Paul said, because both are captive of special interests.
And neither will act to stop the Federal Reserve from papering over the growing chasm of debt by inflating the money supply in a policy called "quantitative easing."

His endorsement wouldn’t matter one way or the other, imo. I know that Paul has follows across the nation but I’m not sure that they would be enough to swing the election in any state. JMO.

The statement about no difference on the Fed is ridiculous. Romney is too establishment for me, but he’s not anything like Obama - and he’s already said he is done with Bernanke and EZ money.

And if Paul was President, he wouldn’t change it either, unless he had 60% of the Senate, a majority in the House, and 5 SCOTUS judges.
We’ve been 100 years getting into this mess, we will either turn a corner and head back or derail. I’m betting on the derail scenario now.
I don’t want a Marxist in charge when that happens, and as week as the Bush’s were on conservatism, their SCOTUS picks are a hell of a lot better than Clinton’s and Bummer’s.

Romney or Obama will be the next President. Romney is a pragmatic business man. We will have to work daily to keep his feet to the fire but he will listen to us. Obama is a fevered far Leftist ideologue who will work tirelessly against us.
If Obama is reelected by 2016 we will be so far over the fiscal cliff there will be no climbing back. Romney sees the chart below as a problem. 0bama thinks the problem is we have not spent enough!
FY 1992-1993 Bush 1 and Dem Congress. FY 1994-95 Clinton and a Dem Congress. FY 1996-2001 Clinton and a GOP Congress. FY 2002-2003 Bush 2 and GOP House/Dem Senate. FY 2004-2007 Bush and a GOP Congress. FY 2008-2011 Obama and Dem Congress. FY 2012+ Obama/GOP House/Dem Senate.
Obama added planks favoring Gay Marriage and taxpayer funded abortion on demand up to birth to the 2012 Democrat Party platform.
By contrast the 2012 GOP platform is the most Conservative one in their history.
No matter how much one might hate Romney, no one with a brain would refuse to see the stark difference between Romney and Obama on both fiscal and social issues.
With Romney Fiscal and Social Conservatives have a seat at the table, while Obama will actively promote everything real Conservatives are against.
By 2016 everything Conservatives claim to be so passionate about will be legislated. As Roe V Wade should of taught Conservatives once something is legislated it become almost impossible to undo.
Once 2016 rolls around the Judiciary will be so packed with Obamabots anything Conservatives DID manage to legislate would simply be undone by Judicial Fiat.
If Obama is reelected there will be nothing left to win.
After another 4 year term of Obama the USA will be a European style 1 party state with a state directed media, that will allow just enough political window dressing from a “loyal opposition” to keep their peon classes passive.
And those around here who feel their political sour grapes from the 2012 GOP Primaries are more important then the future of our country will have been the active allies of that destruction

For Ron Paul to refuse to endorse the only man who can defeat the dangerous Barack Obama and call them ‘the same’ is delusional. Ron Paul is 77 years old, retiring from congress with his fat government pension (congress takes good care of it’s members) and obviously doesn’t give a hoot what happens to his country. Screw him.

While Romney is not a dream candidate by any means to say they essentially are not any different is over the top.
First and foremost, I do believe Mitt likes America. I also believe Mitt IS an American at heart, and in birth. He is a far, far more generous person than Obama, and does not appear to be generous just in order to flaunt it. I do not believe Mitt would tell Putin to “wait until I’m elected and I can be more flexible” like Obama’s second term will be.
He is obviously not as conservative as me. He is not even my faith, as his faith actually holds MY faith to be in error. I take issue with him on many things. But as much as I will not give him or anyone else extra slack just for being a “R”, I also will not call him something he clearly is not. He is not essentially the same as Obama. The country and policies and proposals and potential SCOTUS justice nominees will not be identical/equivalent to Obama’s.
Again, this election is choosing between Xerxes and Mohammed. You can reason and work with, and live under, a Xerxes. You cannot with a Mohammed.

Ron Paul might have a larger messiah complex than Obama.
That's what primaries are for - you're chance to promote and work for a candidate you can truly be excited about. General elections are a different animal. They are a choice between the only candidates that can win. In our 2 party system, that means you'll usually have 2 options and neither will be all the great. General elections are not an affirmative endorsement of any person or ideology, they are a simply a choice between the only candidates that can win.
If by now you can't see why Romney, despite all his flaws, is better than Hussein, well there is probably no getting through to you. Court nominations alone should be a sufficient reason to vote for Romney/Ryan. US Presidents tend to use court nominations to throw a bone to the base. Romney's nominations might be good or they might not be - we don't know for certain. On the other hand, Obama's court nominations WILL definitely be terrible - that we know for sure. And if Obama gets 4 more years of leftist judges, it may be near impossible to undo all the damage he and his Democrats are doing.
Let me give you one example to consider. Remember all the fighting in Wisconsin over collective bargaining? We had massive demonstrations, recalls, Democrats fleeing the state, etc, etc, etc. Most of us here were cheering Walker, perhaps he is the kind of conservative you do support? All that effort, all that standing firm against the unions - ALL undone by one liberal Dane county judge. One judge just reversed all our gains. Now this was a state judge not a federal one, but the point stands. The more liberal judges Obama appoints, the less likely it is we can reverse the leftist agenda.
Then, Ron Paul is blind as a mole.
And, as usual, Paul is more concerned with his favorite passtime -- pissing in the Republican soup -- than in advancing the country's interests.
