Frankly, there’s only so much you can do when the other guy goes ‘wing nut’ on you. Ryan could have come up with some better rejoinders, but he held his composure throughout, and I think that spoke very well of him.

Biden played the fool, and the media stepped in to praise him for it. He’s being described as “spirited.” “The sparks really flew...”

No, horse manure was the only thing that flew, and it was slung from one direction only. Biden isn’t slick enough to pull it off, and the media isn’t effective enough to turn a horse turd into a red apple. It’s not working.

Right - he could have also “overcorrected” to confront Biden which would have been a risk of making it look like a school boy arguing with the school master (sort of the way Edwards looked vs. Cheney). In this case he looked like someone level headed with someone going crazy.
