Erin DiMeglio, 17, made history as Florida's first female high school quarterback
A teenager who made history as Florida's first female, high school quarterback has been crowned Homecoming Queen. Erin DiMeglio, 17, received the honour last night at the Paladin Stadium in South Plantation, as her soccer team, the Paladins, secured a 18-0 victory over the Hollywood Hills. Instead of a dress, the sports enthusiast opted to wear her number 20 football kit for the halftime ceremony.
Talking about the accolade, Miss DiMeglio told the Sun Sentinel: 'It's really cool to be noticed as the homecoming queen and be a football player. I never thought I was going to win. This is crazy.' Her Paladins teammate, wide receiver Hordley Seide, was announced as Homecoming King.
After accepting a sash and tiara Miss DiMeglio added: 'To be with my teammate, I don't think it's ever happened before, a guy and a girl from the football team being king.'

Many boys could be in the same position. Hopefully the coach uses common sense in deciding where to put players, based on their size, strength, and skill.
Doesn’t the quarterback usually date the Homecoming Queen? This is confusing.
I don’t know in high school I could out play any of the guys on our high school team. But in those days no one would have voted for me to be homecoming anything.
I think college and pros would be too much mainly because the skill levels and speed is so great. But at the high school level ion some places a girl player doesn’t seem out of the question
When I lived in Georgia the local high school had a girl kick extra points. I suspect it was just a gimmick but she could kick extra points about as well as anyone.
She played soccer and was a striking beauty. I mean Miss America type beauty.
Hopefully she makes it through the rest of the season without injury

The teen is a backup quarterback for the South Plantation High School Paladins, in Sunrise, Florida, near Ft. Lauderdale. She has been practicing with the team since May and was able to hold her own during the fourth quarter of the Paladins game on August 24, calling plays and completing two passes.
Now that I think about it, I think this girl’s Mother was a former Miss Georgia.
She didn’t play for the Armadillos tho.
I once saw a a list of the comparative strengths of grown girls and boys of the same weight.
Girls typically have less than 50% of the upper body strength, around 70% of the mid body strength, but surprisingly, around 90% of the lower body and leg strength.

The legs don’t surprise me. I’ve worked in a gym and have seen some chicks push some weight. I almost never see a chick do a single pull up though.

Wow! You gotta get out more. Female athletes (gymnasts, pole vaulters) do pull-ups all the time.
Pound for pound, female gymnasts are some of the strongest people on the planet.
