ST. PETERSBURG -- There are two million Hispanic voters in Florida. It's a constituency that has the power to shift a tight election, so both political parties have tried to sway the Hispanic vote their way.
An exclusive Tampa Bay Times/Bay News 9 statewide poll shows many Hispanic voters dropping their support for Obama.
Last month, 52 percent of Hispanic voters polled said they would vote for the president. That has now dropped to 44 percent.
Romney picked up some ground among Hispanics, from 43 percent to 46 percent. And the number of undecided Hispanic voters has doubled from 5 to 10 percent.

I would have suspected such a shift might be caused by the Fast and Furious exposure on Univision...but I did not see any reference to it in article. Are the peasants allowed to be informed about it?

The Republicans should get the latino vote. They do try to keep their families intact and their core values are Catholic. Perhaps a few of them are having their Suzanna Martinez moment- “Damn, we’re Republicans!”

Sure hope you are right! I’ll take the Hispanics over the Blacks any day, because they are, for the most part, Christian and hardworking. Not that I like what the illegals are doing to the country and California in particular.

It would not surprise me if Romney won at least 45% of the Hispanic vote in Texas (Bush won 40%).
If Obama’s poll numbers were RISING rather than eroding among any interest group, ethnic group, state, or organization, we’d never hear the end of it from the liberal MSM.
Yet all we hear morning, noon, and night is Obama support-erosion stories. He’s continually losing the Jewish vote, the Hispanic vote, women, Florida; he even dropped 8% in California following his awful debate performance. Yet, amazingly, Obama’s overall support in the country somehow never ‘’erodes’’ below 47 percent!
Instead of the usual pundits, the cable-news shows need to bring on mathematical geniuses and experts in the paranormal to explain what’s really going on.

Goes to the VAlley (McAllen, Brownsville) all the time. Probably 75% of hispanics on welfare. Mostly Democrats, because no Rebublican ever goes to the Valley.
My mother has tried to convince her family, I’m talking about 30 people or so at our last family get together that Democrats have kept you like slaves! What have they done for you or your children? They make you vote for them and then throw you the crumbs! It sounds so much better in Spanish!

I agree, but I’m not sure it’s a bad thing. I don’t think most people are voting for Romney because they really, really WANT him to be President. They’re voting for Romney to rid themselves of Obama. And it’s obvious from the shifting polls people are starting to think about who they are going to vote for and that many may now even be interested in hearing open, pro and con discussions from their friends, family, and co-workers.
Therefore I think that headlines to the effect that Obama is a sinking ship would have more influence on wavering voters than headlines that say Romney is picking up steam. In other words, people are seeing that other people like themselves have made the decision to bail on Obama, so it puts them in the mainstream if they do the same. I think the biased headline writers are doing Obama no favors.
