HealthBridge Management and CareOne, related companies that own and operate nursing homes in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and two other states, filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against the New England Health Care Employers Union, also known as Service Employees International Union (SEIU) 1199NE, and United Healthcare Workers East, also an affiliate of SEIU.
The lawsuit claims the unions violated the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act through the use of threats, sabotage, and intimidation in a shake-down to coerce the companies to accept union demands. The health care companies charge that SEIUs use of the help of politicians and liberal activists to intimidate them amounted to criminal extortion.

We can’t let unions into nursing homes. You can’t fire the people who hurt the elderly, get rid of those who don’t do their jobs, and the costly eldercare rates get higher while you get lower quality care.
Well, that is what unions do:make it impossible to fire the lazy and incompetent ,and hold back the good worker so he won’t make the others “look bad”.Firsthand experience.
It’s way too late now! SEIU is one of the largest yoonyuns in da whirled!!!
I hope they win big.

the nursing home i worked in has just unionized and guess who? seiu. thanked the gods i am now retired.
They’ll steal everything that isn’t nailed down...hell; the REGULAR staff robs the elderly residents on an on-going basis.
during the 15 years i worked at my”home” nothing like that occured. i would have known.
We used to buy chocolates for my late grandmother while she was in a nursing home...if we forgot to put them under lock and key; they were gone the next day. Of course; that WAS the northeast. :-)
You’re retired? Any plans to go into a nursing home at some point?
