The Platinum lady: Margaret Thatcher still perfectly coiffed on her 87th birthday
Daily Mail ^

The traditional Tory blue outfit is immaculate and the famous ‘helmet hair’ – now platinum white – is perfectly coiffed. This is former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on her 87th birthday heading for a celebratory lunch yesterday with her son Mark and his wife Sarah. Baroness Thatcher – nicknamed The Iron Lady after she made a typically scathing speech about the Soviet Union – walked arm-in-arm with Mark as she left her home in London’s Belgravia.

Thank you for posting! When I married my British husband and moved to Britain, Mrs Thatcher was PM and there was a coal strike on. It was a real culture shock to me that one of the rights the miners were striking for was the right to give their jobs to their children. I naively told my new relatives, in America parents want their children to do better than they have done. Stony silence. I learned to be quiet about America but I never learned to live the Socialist life. My brothers and my sister are hard core Leftists but unhappy with the way America is turning. I haven’t yet been able to say ‘welcome to Socialism’.

She looks beautiful indeed. A rich inner beauty portraying confidence and the knowledge of knowing what is right. Mrs. Thatcher was the most influential and important Prime Minister of England (male or female) in my time. God bless her. We need more like her.

Unfortunately, for the world treasures like the Iron Lady, Sir Winston Churchill, and Ronald Regan they are very few and far between.

G-d Bless "The Iron Lady." One of the most heart breaking things I've ever witnessed was her at President Reagan's funeral, as she approached the coffin.

Was Lady Thatcher at President Reagan’s funeral? I thought she addressed his funeral service by video....but I could be wrong - my memory isn’t what it used to be!

She was there and the sun was setting as she said goodbye.

As I recall, her doctors advised her not to take the trip, but she refused to listen to them. God bless her.

Maybe it's my memory that is faulty, and maybe it was Nancy Reagan who I'm thinking of. I believe Lady Thatcher was there though.

Delightful to see her. I just finished re-reading her book, an amazing work that applies today. It’s over 800 pages but well worth it.

Lady Thatcher did attend President Reagan’s funeral, but her eulogy was delivered as a recorded message as, by that time, she was no longer confident speaking in public, after a series of small strokes. She preferred to be able to record what she had to say in short sessions, rather than deliver a long speech.
