DEMBACLE: DEM REDISTRICTING PLANS FALTER IN ILLINOIS
Big Government ^ | October 13, 2012

Posted on 10/13/2012 4:13:11 PM PDT by SMGFan

In 2010, GOP candidates for federal office had a banner year in Illinois. The GOP picked up 4 House seats and a U.S. Senate seat in President Obama's adopted home-state. State party GOP candidates, fared less well, however. The state party picked up a handful of legislative seats and lost the Governor's office to Democrat Pat Quinn, Rod Blagojevich's former running-mate. As a result, Democrats controlled all levers for last year's redistricting process. They vowed to use it to reverse the GOP gains in the U.S. House. It isn't working out as planned.

Years of Democrat control have taken a toll on the Land of Lincoln, and the state lost a seat due to weak population growth over the past decade. One GOP incumbent was eliminated through redistricting. Other GOP seats were made much more Democrat, in hopes of knocking off other incumbents. At one time, Democrats dreamed of picking up a net 4-5 seats in the state. The one-sided redistricting process in Illinois was often cited by national Democrats to support their claims that they could win back the House.

The Democrats are aggressively targeting 6 House seats in Illinois. 5 of these are held by Republicans, while the 6th is a down-state district long held by retiring Dem Rep. Jerry Costello. New polls from WeAskAmerica, a pollster who was very accurate in 2010, finds GOP leading in 4 of these races. Only freshman GOP Rep. Bobby Schilling trails, but buy less than half-a-percent.

Perhaps the people of Illinois have grown tired of having criminals run their government. We have certainly grown tired of having their criminals running the White House.

The redistricting plans and redistricting lines were all based on Obama's 2008 numbers, but, the Democrats are falling short of those numbers in this election year.

We are. The entrenched corruption is just so obvious. The “sin taxes” are outrageous.

I was in a c-store not that long ago and a guy was buying some chewing tobacco and complained about the price due to taxes and he said, “These @#%% socialists have to get their money somehow.”

Growing up, my area was a Dem stronghold. Our Congressman and Senator flipped to GOP.

It’s not a “gimme” for the liberals anymore. More and more yard signs are turning Republican.

Many voters do not answer telephone polls, myself included. Because of this, I don’t put alot of stock into the statistics regarding the Bobby Schilling race. I believe Schilling will win.

Excellent news! I am envious of my fellow Illinoisans who live in a district where their votes count for something.

I’m in Jesse Junior’s district. Nuf said.

I’m glad to see Walsh is holding his own up there. I hope we win all of these, but his winning would be most personally satisfying for me, since they rigged the district specifically to get rid of him. Plus, he’s the kind of thorn-in-the-flesh congressman I enjoy.

I’m a conservative, independent, write-in candidate, in the 7th Congressional District, where the incumbent is Rep. Danny Davis. I have a B.A. in political science. I’m pro-tax cuts, pro-spending cuts, pro-life, and anti-illegal alien. I was in the navy for 21 years, including six months near Baghdad. I was endorsed by the Illinois Center Right Coalition and Chad Koppie. If you know anyone, who lives in that district, please ask them to write my name and vote for me. The district includes downtown Chicago, Oak Park, Bellwood, Maywood, and Hillside.

My campaign blog is philcollinscampaign.blogspot.com. My site is philcollins4illinois.angelfire.com. I have a facebook group, Phil Collins’ Campaign. On twitter, I’m PhilCollinsIL.

Here is a hint. If you want folks to write you in, somewhere on your web pages you need to clearly state the correct spelling of your name for it to be counted for you. Is it Phil, or must it be Phillip? Does it need to be exactly as on your BC to count?

Remember, the demmocraps will use every trick they can to disallow competition votes.

According to Illinois law, the election judges should infer the intention of the voter. You could write Philip or Phil, but, on my declaration of write-in campaign, I wrote, “Phil Collins.” Please write “Phil Collins.” Thanks.
