Where is CIA Director Gen. David Petraeus? He seems to be the missing man in the unfolding Benghazi debacle. It is his agency, among others, which is being fingered by the White House for getting the Libya attack wrong. However, we know that within a very short time after the murder of our ambassador (an extraordinary occurrence) and others, our intelligence community did have the story straight: This was an organized al-Qaeda attack. Is he to preside over a witchhunt? Or is he, who to date has been one of the most respected national security officials, going to be instrumental in shining light on the Libya fiasco and thereby truly serving the national interest and the memory of those killed?
That’s one of the many pending questions bubbling over in the Libya scandal. But we finally be getting some answers. On Friday Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) announced that the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will hold hearings on the Benghazi debacle. Those hearings can’t come a moment too soon. The questions are multiplying:

The General chose to remain in the spotlight at whatever cost to his heretofore fine reputation....and he's reaping the fallout he himself sowed.
He should have remained under the radar till an honorable administration was elected and all the commies, traitors and enemies within the various marble halls were swept out of Washington DC. Many appointment avenues would then be open to him to cover himself with glory. But he made a bad choice.
Since I firmly believe the 'Rat exodus from D.C. will begin on the day after November 6, Petraeus is probably kicking himself for the can of worms he finds himself in. He is now tied to Obama's sorry policies, deserving or not.....and is eventually expendable and certainly will be thrown under the jeep along with other of Obama's fall guys and dolls.
I'm sorry to say that I think his honorable career is now permanently tainted by association with O'Beezlebub. Lie down with a dog, get up with the mange.

The post from Eric needs to be corrected. 9:30 PM Libyan time is 3:30 PM (not AM) EST. This is a crucial distinction because Obama’s lack of involvement has been excused by those saying he went to bed at 11 PM and didn’t know what was happening.
That is totally false and a deliberate attempt to mislead.
The attack began at 3:30 PM EST and continued until 9:30 PM EST and Obama and the WH situation room would have been up and running at full strength during that period.
The question is, will anyone appear at these hearings without a subpeona? By the time that all happens and the cloak of national security pierced, the “il”ection will be history.

WASHINGTON (AP) Senior State Department officials provided a more detailed picture Tuesday of the consulate attack in Benghazi, Libya, that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. A look at how they say the attack took place:

Stevens arrives in Benghazi and holds meetings on and off the consulate grounds on Sept. 10. He spends the night, and for the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. holds meetings only inside the compound. It is an enclosed area about 300 yards long by 100 yards wide, with a 9-foot outer wall topped by barbed wire and augmented by barriers, steel drop bars and other security upgrades. There are four buildings in the compound. Five diplomatic security officers are present, along with four members of a local militia deployed by Libya’s government to provide added security.
Around 8:30 p.m.
Stevens finishes his final meeting of the day and escorts a Turkish diplomat outside the main entrance of the consulate. The situation is calm. There are no protests.
Around 9:40 p.m.
Agents hear loud noises, gunfire and explosions near the front gate. A barracks at the entrance housing the local militiamen is burnt down. Agents viewing cameras see large group of armed men flowing into the compound. Alarm is sounded. Telephone calls are made to the embassy in Tripoli, officials in Washington, the Libyan authorities and a U.S. quick reaction force located at a second compound a little over a mile away.
Even if its State’s or Intelligence’s fault, it still reflects badly on Obama. It shows he doesn’t run a tight ship, is disengaged and doesn’t really want to get involved when a crisis occurs. Particularly after the ambassador’s assassination, most any executive would at that point want to get involved, find out absolutely everything and keep informed, and maybe even talk to the American people about this. Zero didn’t do any of that, but went to sleep and then flew out to Vegas, and then spent subsequent days partying with JayZ and Beyonce, and hanging with the harpies from the View and Letterman. This guy is not a responsible chief executive and needs to go. I sure hope the voters are paying attention here.

Thank you for pointing out the error. As you can see I assumed it said 3:30 PM. My post reflects how it fits in the official schedules.
Romney would be a fool to keep him.
I remember on 9/11 that around 10:00 pm CST the controversy around the apologetic posting on the Cairo Embassy web site and twitter was already swearing because just before I went to bed that night I took one more look at things and discovered it.
Already at that time the WH was denying they had approved the language.

“David Petraeus is part of team Obama now so does Obama’s bidding.”
If that is true he is a traitor.
“I believe he waiting for Romney to win and to stay with Romney and do a great job for him.”
If that happens Romney is an idiot. Petraeus is in a position to know what Obama is doing and is not upholding his oath if he is doing Obama’s bidding. He should never be trusted if he doesn’t come clean in this instance.
